Patong Accom - Whats my chances?

Hi there, I know this is another boring accomodation thread, and I've been having a search around, but......

I've not actually stayed in Patong before, but will be having a good few nights there on my forthcoming trip. Will be arriving something like January 8th. What's my chances of finding a decent room available somewhere central like San Sabai? Talking say 1,500baht a night.

I wouldn't mind booking somewhere, but my mate prefers just turning up at places, and we don't know the exact dates of arrival yet. However, we've not been to LOS, especially Patong in the High Season before........is it gonna be rammed everywhere or a bit quieter by Jan 8th??

cheers for any input!

It will still be busy. I was there for 3 weeks in January last year, and many hotels were fully booked in mid-January. Prices have also increased since last year. Decent room may be do-able, but I doubt no pool in central location for 1,500.

Try and get a definite arrival date and book in advance is my advice.

This will still be high season. In my mind, it is always best to get the room before showing up. It is possible that some hotels you fancy and show up at that has no rooms will have an alternative or two, but why take the chance???? Tell your mate he is off on the wrong foot.

There is a new 3 block wide guesthouse at the end of Sansabai, they just opened so I doubt they have any pre bookings for coming weeks, so may be a good place to check.

I think it was called Andaman Resortel.

I stayed there last year , think they only open it for high season. Unless they have done a complete refurbishment I don't recommend it.

Note: Andaman Resortel is basic, looks like it used to be a pretty nice place but I would not recommend it. No bar, and only breakfast available. Guest friendly but nowhere to sit and relax. Rooms passable but mine faced out onto the “unfinished Jungleceylon.(Or whatever they call the White Elephant).

Look like a refurbishment, has been construction works going on prior to the opening.

Nicke talking about Lucky Leks (Hasher) place FT - its been completley gutted and refurbished - looks pretty nice - just opened.

As far as OP - all the hotel owners I know are fully booked from now thru end Jan - so would definitely advise pre-booking.

Didn't know it was his place , will have to pop in this trip and check it out. Could be very handy for future trips , if SB is full.
