hmmmmm.............how long u going for ,best u decide that first,if u dont know, maybe look for an open ticket,3-6 -12 month are available,or u can just check with your airline if the ticket is changable, this will more than likely cost u,as i have done it many a time, paying around £75.
look on the websites,theres a few posted up here,do a search........try this
http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...ffers-u-k.html.
i would think more than likely a return ticket would work out cheaper, never done it any other way.
no doubt an indirect flight will be cheaper, some good deals knocking about...
around £360 ive seen.
bare in mind that u have to go via bangkok, although there are some airlines that are doing direct from uk to phuket, including a re-fueling,but they come with bad rep.
id say have a look a qatar,eithad......dont always use direct links to airline, not always best deals.....poss book your onward flight to phuket, air asia, thai air,1-2 go,nok.
depends if u wanna sample bangkok for a night or so,which id say is a must, whatever the weather.
chok dee..keep us informed, like to know how u newbies get on .

Best i would think to get return ticket only ... also depends how long you are staying and how flexible you want your return to be. if you are the standard 14 day excursion get the best return ticket deal u can ...some prices are around £300.00 mark.. i fly Eva air as no charge for changing dates and a good carrier. ... to be honest 'Google' is your best friend when looking for cheap flights. i always organise the leg from bangkok to phuket separately as cheaper.. good luck

13 hours on VIP bus 24 seats i believe, costs 1000 baht. Very comfortable but bring food, the food place they stop at is horrible.
If you go by plane, be prepared to pay 4x that including taxes.

ye me thinks so.........i flew evagreen deluxe first couple of times, really liked it,but was paying around £600+ if i recall correctly, after travelling economy around the world, which funnily enough included quite a few flights ,it dont bother me anymore, plus its cheaper, and i can fit in the seat a bit better now.

Eva Air
you are about right with the cost...depends when you fly .. i am going out in feb 07 in evergreen deluxe £700.00... for me the extra money is well worth it ..(i am a big B**tard) but only do this on long haul, any short haul flights i do economy to europe.

Black and White
This is my 1st trip to Thailand also.
I researched and searched for flights.... The best deal I found was at www.etihadairways.com
452 pounds via Abu Dhabi. With an hour layover. I fly out on the 15th Feb and return on the 2nd March.
The hotel prices change drastically after 1st March. But Jintana Hotel in patong is 1200 baht a night and if you search the hotel on this forum it is girl friendly and clean but basic.
I must have put at least 30 hours into Internet research and I still feel I have only broken the surface.
Flights from Bangkok to Phuket you are looking at 50 quid www.nokair.com seem to be the cheapest for me. Again type the airline in the search button and read the threads!!!!
I leave L.A. on the 12th Feb... back in Wales for 2 days then leave for Thailand on the 15th
Good luck in the research I believe on the lonely planet website they are doing a special on 3 books together for Thailand.

Most airlines will change a return date, some will charge some won't. I've changed BA and Qantas for free, can't think of any others.
I don't think you will be able to book open tickets, they will all need a return date, just explain the problem and find out up-front about changing them before you book.

your best bet is to have a browse on the web, then get some numbers of agents and phone them directly about open end tickets, very rarely see open end tickets u can book over the net......give em a phone.....
on the other hand..... i got a agent ive used many times,he deals in open end tickets with thai air and eva(to my knowledge).....
PM me if u want his number.

Your good bet. Book on *Etihad Airways: *The National Airline of the United Arab Emirates
price to bangkok about 450 pound and return flight can be changed free of charge and valid for about 6 months
