You certainly can walk up and buy a ticket. Keep in mind though, that flights do sell out.
If you are going to Phuket, Thai Airways has flights at 16:50 and 18:20 (on most days). Under most circumstances you should be able to make the 16:50 flight. Keep in mind that all Thai domestic fares are changeable.

Regarding flights to Phuket from BKK I am trying to book online with Nok Air. Now I know that they do not take foreign credit cards and you have to email it to them.
Does anyone have an email address for Nok Air??
Thanks

You should be able to use your foreign credit card with Nok Air. I booked a flight from BKK to Udon Thani just before X-mas and used my Dutch credit card.

I really dont understand why guys fly into BKK from all ports only to then buy a ticket to HKT on a cheapie. Why dont you look at buying a ticket right thru connecting to either Thai or Bangkok Air, and having the convenience of a thru transfer.
There are so many advantages in doing this, it is worth the extra dollars in my mind.

I am actually staying in Bangkok for 5 days 1st. Then after my week in Phuket I am back in Bangkok for 2 more days before flying back to UK!! So I have no need to worry about missing transfers to other airlines...

Just to let you know. I used my British HSBC Visa card to book a flight with Nok Air. So they have fixed their problem!

Having flown so much all over the world for business and pleasure. I do not really mind to pay a bit more. Obviously, I rather go for a direct flight, but when it is on one of those holiday charters in the cattle class, then I pass.
My main 3 reasons are:
First of all the connection must be as fluent as possible. Hence, without too long waiting times on a connecting airport.
Secondly, the airline for the intercontinental flight must be a decent one. Over the years, I find the larger Asian airlines the best. So it should be SQ, Thai, CAL or Eva. My preference usually goes to SQ because of Krisflyer miles and after flying with them many many times, they never let me down.
And third, the airline must have a seat on the date I want to travel. As I am often in some kind of limited available time pressure, I need to have a flight on the days I want to travel.
This time I had no alternative than to fly through BKK.

Actually this leads me on to a question of my own (Im sorry for hijacking the thread buddy) Ive booked my flights and i fly Lufthansa to Bkk and then on to Phuket with Thai (which should be no problem as Lufthansa and Thai are both part of Star Alliance) when i booked i was told that i can book my luggage in at Frankfurt am Main to Phuket but i read somewhere that i can't..... It could be on here but i am not 100% sure... Could this cause any hassle or am i ok here?

Just ask at check-in. They will tell you how far your luggage is going, and whether you need to collect and recheck it in.

Correct, usually it shouldn't be a problem. Both are on the Star Alliance.
However, local laws may prohibit labeling your luggage all the way through to Phuket. In the crazy US they have such laws, but also in other countries. Check-in will be able to tell you exactly what is possible.
