I work at glasgow prestwick airport and one of the managers in the air traffic control told me that in april it will be announced officialy that the first ever direct service from scotland to australia will be announced flying from prestwick the route is going to be run by virgin and will stop at bangkok 4 days a week and singapore the other 3 days that will be fantastic news for me and also all travellers to los from scotland it has to be prestwick because believe it or not the runway at the main glasgow airport is too short for the big aircraft to take off and land . also the landing charges at prestwick are lower so the price should be ok

Tman, that is interesting news. There has been no leaks of that down here, and I find that rather unusual.

I can't see it being done from Luton as the runway is too small for large aircraft to operate the longer distance flights.

I work at Heathrow, and today on my way into work I was talking to somebody from Virgin. We were talking about holidays, and I said that maybe Virgin should consider operating to BKK; she said that it is very unlikely!

When I was in Patong in December I was waiting at the airport for my flight back to BKK. I noticed a 'MyTravel' aircraft (used to be Airtours) departing. I presume that this was heading back to the UK. It can't be a non-stop flight so I expect that they stop somewhere in the middle east (maybe Bahrain?)

My last Air Asia flight was last December. Wont be flying them anymore. Flight was delayed so freaking long. When i arrived at Phuket, i even heard the next flight to KL would be canceled!!! Ridiculous. Reported as technical difficulties, i wonder how they maintain their planes.

The KL-London route by Air Asia does benefit students, lots of Msian students in UK. Of course only if the flight does arrive on time for them to start 1st day of Uni.

But thinking of the fuel surcharge, tax and fees, i doubt it will really be that cheap. Considering when real airlines like MAS and SIA have cheap promotions from time to time, and also providing better service and most important comfort in Economy class as well.
