Pool Access Rooms etc

Hi

We normally stay at the Merlin Beach, but last time - August 2006, we found that it wasnt as good as the other times we have been, staff not so friendly - or bothered with you and the buffet breakfasts and dinners not so good - not refilled when empty etc.

We had intended on returning to Merlin Beach May 2007 to stay in a pool access room - can anyone give me their reports??

We have also looked at the pool access rooms at the Busakorn wing of Holiday inn, this was where we had decided to stay - but are being told those rooms are fully booked.

We wanted to be in Patong this time rather than up the hill, so we can just walk out of the hotel to a restaurant or bar whenever we wanted, now we dont know where to stay..

Info on the Merlin Beach and Holiday Inn pool rooms would be good - but also any other recommended hotels in Patong - especially with the pool access rooms??

Sorry to be so vague!! We love Phuket and dont want to make a reservation and then be dissapointed when we arrive

well, Banthai has pool access rooms
its on beach road, a little bit up from the road
has 2 huge pools
who would be going to the hotel?
i wasnt that impressed with the room or the service but other people liked it

I rate the Holiday Inn's Busakorn Wing very highly having stayed there twice. I would suggest that a room without pool access would be just as good, but I don't really mind so it may make a difference to you. The Busakorn rooms all face out over the huge pool area, so if you cannot get a ground floor room, there may be some compensation in taking one of the upper floor rooms.
