Singapore - Phuket

I was wondering how long an average trip takes from door to door (orchard rd to patong) and how many different daily flights there are for this trip.
Appreciate info from BMs taking this trip on a regular basis.

Cool

Depending on the time of day, taxi from Orchard Road to airport takes between 20-45 minutes, fare approx S$20-00.

Tiger Airways fly 3 times a day, so too do Silk Air and that's all as far as I know.

Tiger Airways flies from a separate terminal than Silk Air, remember to tell the driver this as low cost carriers go from the Budget terminal, Silk Air will fly from the main terminal.

The flight itself takes around 1hour 20 mins and you should allow a bit extra time exiting Phuket airport as it's an international flight (as opposed to flying from BKK).

Taxi or limo from Phuket airport to will take around 30-40 minutes, again depending on the time of day and will cost around 400-450 baht for a taxi and 600-700 baht for a limo.

Therefore taking an average...
30mins taxi Orchard Road to Changi airport
arriving 1hour before flight departs
1hr 20mins in the air
45mins to exit Phuket airpoirt and organise a ride
45mins to get to Patong
...gives a total time of about 4 and a half hours.

cheers for the prompt help. In general a pretty easy trip or do you end up with delays on a regular basis?

I have only used Silk Air in the past and not had any delays to speak of. They are part of Singapore Airlines, so maybe that helps ?

I will be using Tiger Airways in February for the first time and have not used Jet Star.

Nothing to add. I did it last November and was on the early morning (7.10)Tiger Airways flight. My ticket was about € 62.00 return all-in, so not bad.

The taxi took less than 30 minutes from a bit further away than Orchard Rd.
The flight itself was ok and nothing to complain about.
There is free seating in the plain, so if you board early, you can use the emergency exit chairs for extra space.

Do mention to the taxi driver in Singapore, that you need to go to the "Budget Terminal" as they are used to drop every foreigner at the usual Terminal 2.

Success.

I understand what you are saying, but it still takes 4 and a half hours of actual time, regardless of what they time is in Thailand

Now, if I had a time machine....

Wolf

for years had been with thai or silkair till the low cost came along. yes, the
prices matter.

then it was with jetstar or tiger till tiger moved to the budget terminal. the
terminal matters. despite the lower airport tax, somehow jetstar and tiger
prices were still comparable. also jetstar's evening flight home to
singapore touch-down well before midnight, which again matters as i usually
have to work on the next day. have a dislike for the early morning flights
leaving phuket.

however by chance found 'hot-deal' prices on silkair's site which is only
slightly more than jetstar or tiger. one catch though - gv2.

so it is now jetstar when alone and silkair when i have a buddy along.

cheers.
