Sea Sand Sun Resort
Has anyone stayed at the Sea Sand Sun Resort in Patong Beach and if so whats the standard like. Also I will be travelling in April and was wondering what the weather is like this time of year.
Thanks
Daryl

hi mate stayed there 4 or 5 times, should be about 900 - 1000 a night at that time, i dont bother with the breakfast at the hotel, so try and negotiate a price without the breakfast included.
make sure you let them know that you will be bringing back guests (if your doing that), some body rumoured they are charging a joiner at different times.
i like the hotel, and i dont ever worry about the weather, if it rains just find a bar to sit at, and wait till it finishes.

no problem taking the wife and daughters there dbaron, might see a few mongers with their girlfriend of the moment, but 95% of the ones i have seen there were pretty discreet.
good family hotel, my brother, his wife and 2 daughters 15 years and 13 stayed there and really liked it.
you see quite a few family groups there, and they also seem happy enough.
close to the beach, nice little pool, and far away enough from the naughty night life, but easy walk to the resturants on the 200 years road and the beach road.

if you go with family i can also recommend royal paradise hotel.
it's not guest friendly, think they charge 700 baht or so, so maybe better for you and your kids :-)
i stayed there with lady 2 times. the rooms are very good. it's 4 star.
nice pool, central location but not on the beach. floor to ceiling windows, nice. can go on the big balcony at night and enjoy the view or whatever ;-)
try to get corner room, bigger.
royal paradise is high rise so if you don't like that maybe other hotel better
but i found it very good value.
rates on directrooms.com for april only 1200 baht...
i saw rooms in sea sun sand also. it's a good place with more "charme" but the rooms are
not very modern. 3 star. if you like clean, modern rooms/bathroom go for royal paradise.
if you like smaller, cosy hotel go for sss.
have fun
M

i stayed here mate back in may 2004 was really happy with everything, i had a room on the grand floor next to the swimming pool and was beautiful. i think i got a room for 600 a night but this was low season and as we all know it was the months following the Asian tsunami so it was really quite around patong, i would be quite happy to pay 1000-1500 a night.

I absolutely love your website
Hi Guys,
I have been to Thailand before but not to Phuket. I have been to Bankok & Pattaya. I am Currently trying to get my wife to agree to coming to Thailand (Phuket) for a holiday. On looking at your website I was amazed at the information available. I love the forum section. I spent over 15 hours going through the information on bg's and lb's in your forums and cannot wait to get over there to see this for myself. I think this is amazing as don't think I remeber seeing this the last time I was in Thailand in 1997. Must have changed heaps as Pattaya and Patpong was all go go bars and cheap knock offs. (as in clothing and brands.) and the food and restaurants were amazing.
Hope to see you in Mai Thai Bar in April or May.
Regards
Daryl

Because he is a newbie to the forum and hasn't worked out where best to post yet. Give the guy a little slack.

Thanks Dawsey,
I am new to forums as I have never posted anything before. Sorry if I put my post in the wrong place. It was just a comment I will try to put my comments in the right place in future as I now think I know how your forum works.

I stayed there in 2003 for a couple of weeks and found it a good-value place.
Only thing I would add: I once put my parents there and they complained about the mosquitoes while sitting on the balcony at night. Me mom got hundreds of bites on her legs. I did not notice it though.

Hi Daryl,
My two girls were 16 and 12 when we first visited Phuket. If your youngest is only 8 be aware it is extremely hot and humid in April.
If you haven't seen it yet, have a quick read through the recommended hotels used by members. A "non-guest friendly" hotel would probably suit you best considering your wife and family.

Thanks for the advice Dawsey,
Fortunately my 8 year old is more resilient than my 12 year old who seems to feel the heat more and to burn more easily due to fair skin inheritedfrom my wife. Me and the little one have olive skin and just go brown. I think they should be okay however Having travelled to Bali, Singapore, Thailand, & Malaysia all in summer months I know what you mean about humidity
