The majority of hotels/guesthouses offer an airport "pick-up" service , usually costs a bit more than airport limo but normally good service and no problems.

I was at the airport tonight and the metered taxi rank is once aghain back near the exit, its been moved back after last week when we had the strike by the limo guys. Funny we hit on tuk tuk boys and the limo boys because they charge more and then I read an article in the gazette about why the limo boys were angry. Evidently they pay 1.3mil per year to have direct access and have an agreement with the metered taxis that they cannot tout for custom at the entrance but the metered taxis moved the box. Be interesting to see why they have moved it back and what action will now transpire.

I got a ''Taxi" the other way on Sunday morning, and paid 600b from Patong to the airport.

The most scary drive of my life............ I had to text Rob to get him to tell me what "Slow the fcuk down" was. He was doing 140 at some points, and I must of nearly died 10 times. Still got to airport in 25min.

So if you want a taxi in Patong, don't accpet the bloke with the tsunami sticker on the back window!

Of my two trips to and from the airport they have both been relaxing drives. Outbound booked through Asia Web Direct and had the driver standing outside customs with a sign. On the way back had the hotel supply the car.....right on time he was waiting. So I guess I have been lucky.

I would not worry about pre arranging anything, just get a Taxi when you arrive. Ask at the Limo desk if you would have to wait for a car and how long or if you can go straight away. It is rare to have to wait, but can happen occasionally. If you don't want to wait walk over to the Meter Taxi area.
(if in the unlikley event that it is a really long wait then you can rent a minibus for about double the fare)

If you try and arrange in advance by e mail, it could easily get screwed up and then you would be waiting - and annoyed

I personally have no problem whatsoever with the religious beliefs of any limo driver , all I want is a good/safe journey.
