I just set off walking and wave a 20 Baht note. never get more than 20 yards before one of them bites. But, re. my previous post, there's no guarantee you'll get a sane and rational driver.

We are in Phuket next month

anyone know what the going rate for a Tuk Tuk from Bangla to Le Meridien is likely to be ( nice to know the going rate ) , was paying 100-120 last visit ( 3 years ago ) but sounds like thinsga have gone up considerably

Get a driver you know and stick with him that's the best bet. There are some good MB taxi guys out there who will not rip you off. The other night i have no recollection of how I got back but my money was in pocket and no sore backside!! I end up on cruise control back to the guys next to Taipan and they have only tipped me off once in almost 2 years.even if you here on holiday and then back again after a few months there's a good chance they will remember you.

i guess ive been fortunate with these guys
nothing but helpful when ive taken them
have taken great care of me the few times ive had a few too many and almost tipped us both over

actually it was right in middle of afternoon
when i 1st got there, thought i could drive better than i actually could

although im usually modest, you'd be much better off meeting an upstanding citizen such as myself if i can be honest with you

Good advice Simbo, there are a couple of good blokes in Kamala that seem to get all the business because they are reliable, turn up on time if booked for an airport run etc and basically charge a fair price..............They get business by 'word of mouth' and thier mobile numbers are in many phones around here.
