Thomsonfly have a low cost `direct` flight from Manchester to Phuket. Has anyone tried this, and could they give some feedback.
As far as I can see the advantages are;
1. Very low price
2. A bit quicker
3. Less hassle with transits, baggage etc.
Disadvantages
1. Leg room?
2. Not really direct ie stop at London and 2 hour fuel stop in middle east
3. Service levels poor?
Leg room is a big issue for me, being a 6 foot fat bastard. However I have a cunning plan to manage this though snagging an aisle seat and necking some temazepams.
I have posted this before, but perhaps someone has tried it now?

Are the prices any good? I had a look on their website following a £199 link and it was £199 each way plus taxes in the end.
Good luck if you fly them, legroom is a major issue and, well, we have had this discussion before

Is that a bargain? You could probably get a scheduled flight for an extra hundred quid. I'm not sure that I would want to save a hundred quid that much. I guess it is a bargain, to be fair, £300 for a flight to Thailand has to be cheap.

yes, but it does get you to phuket so you have to figure in costs of bkk-hkt return flight as well as scheduled.

You're right, so probably a saving of £200 all up? Tough flights though, don't forget to give us a report if you go.

Yep, sooner you than me. I will pay the extra and take a real flight . KLM and Lufthansa seem pretty good just now, and Emirates are good out of Manchester.
