planning trip to Pattaya, request best hotel info
Hi all, I am planning a three week trip to Pattaya in April this year. I am trying to find out which would be the best hotel to stay at.
I am seeking a Hotel closed enough to all the bars, that is at the top of your ratings, must be GUEST FRIENDLY. Would also be interested to know some of the best bars to go too. Any information would be truly appreciated.
Thankyou
mick

Chef,
Welcome to the board.
The entertainment area in Pattaya is quite large and there are bars everywhere. At one end you have Walking Street, where many of the go-go's are. After that you have soi after soi between Beach road and 2nd Rd and several on the other side of 2nd road packed with bars. Because of the easy and cheap transportation with the baht buses (10 baht per ride) getting from one end to another is easy and relatively quick.
I would say anywhere between soi 11 and Walking Street area (not too far from 2nd road) are good locations.

pattaya pages
chef - there are many, many places to stay in patters that are nice and will meet you expectations.
This site has alot of the information you are looking for:
The Pattaya Pages
I like the Residence Garden myself, once you figure out the transportation its location is not bad. I am still looking for that "equivalent" hotel on the beach however, with balcony. If you find that let me know!

Areca Lodge gets a lot of votes for best value for the moment and once you have found your way around town the location is okay.
I have been a regular at Sabai Lodge on soi 2 for several years, but quality seems to be slipping, so I will be looking elsewhere this time. But it has good quiet location and still close to both beach and bars.
Lek hotel on 2 nd road could also be a good choice for a first timer in Pattaya because of the location and pretty good value for money.

Thankyou all for your info, Fotonut- will look up the web page, cheers
Curly - Thanks for the info, will have a look at them today.
Irish Jonny - Cheers for the help,2 pools sounds great, do you know if they charge guest fees, I have a friend from Sing that might meet me there, not a B/G and have read some forums saying that some places have treated guests as B/G's,would not like that to happen.

The vast majority of hotels in Pattaya doesnt have guest fees. The more upscale you go the higher the risk that the hotel is NOT guest friendly.
Areca has no problem with one guest during the night - they have a fee if you bring in more than one.
But you can find a lot of hotels - Sabai Lodge being one of them - who doesnt care how many you pack in. Just behave in an orderly manner.
