I know this is a stupid question... But!!

I was looking at booking hotels for my trip in June, Now I already know which one I will be staying in Bkk and Phuket, Not so sure about Pattaya as I will be staying there a while and not sure if I want to be forking out 1500bt a night for three weeks, Might even look at renting an Apartment down metro for a month...

Anyway my stupid question, I was looking at booking a hotel in Samui on saweedee.com and the price was 1600bt a night which is ok, But the small print says it is....

"Exclusive" of 10% service charge, 1-2% Tax Etc..etc.. Now does this mean that these fees will be added on to the initial 1600bt? Thats how I took it to mean as if they were included in the price, That would mean its "Inclusive"?

Am I right or have I got it ar$e ways???????

That should mean that you total expenses is 1600. Of that 1600 a portion is used to pay for the service charges and taxes.

no it doesn't it means that the tax will be added on to the 1600 baht because it excludes i.e. does not include the tax already, innit

When I stayed at the Mercure in Patts 3 weeks ago I was quoted "2300, inclusive of ....." and the price at checkout was 2300 per night.

Spot the odd one out !!!!

EXCLUSIVE - omitting from consideration or account (often fol. by of): a profit of ten percent, exclusive of taxes.

INCLUSIVE - including a great deal, or including everything concerned; comprehensive: an inclusive fee.

Inclusive - exclusive wtf?

Ally

I read that as you will be looking at 1700 plus bhat all in rather than the 1600 advertised.......

John -see past post on Acrea smoking policy and Ally's comments re paying to smoke in hotel - not a happy smoke place

1600:room price(gross) x (10%:service charge+1%tax)
=1776 baht room price(net)/night

So solly, my mistake. Did not read the OP correctly. Obviously Exclusive means plus taxes. As spotted I read it as inclusive.

See it does get confusing, So maybe not a stupid question...555555..

Although thats exactly how I thought it was, I wish the fcukers would just put the real price up, As that is just misleading people to believe its 1600bt when after everything is totted up, Its more like 1800bt!!

Wont be booking there then...

On the Areca thing, I dont know, I dont like hotels with Non smoking policys even though it is one of the best, Ill see what happen with the apartments down metro or maybe give the Areca a try on my first few days in Patts and see how it goes... Smoking thing does bug me though..

I know of a couple of places that are 300 yards away from Areca that you will get for about 800 INCLUSIVE. Dunno about smoking, but they have a pool.

I stayed on WS for 500 baht a night but that was a monthly rate, no pool. probably 700 a night for nightly rate.

Ally I stayed in Areca and I smoke, no problem just used the balcony, not because of a no smoking rule I just always use the balcony as even as a smoker I do not like the smell of a smokey room.

Right fcuk it, Areca it is..555555..

Love the Sandy Springs but there looking for 1500bt a night (Maybe 1400 from Eric), And as I will be probably there for around 4 weeks in total next trip (Split), It would start getting a bit pricey...

Next question, Whats the difference between the the standard and the deluxe (pool view) 1000 and 1250?

I staid in Mermaid beach resort in Jomtien down there in low season - very close to the beach, nice pool and good rooms. I paid 650 baht per night or so..

Im sure you can get a good deal if you stay for a long period. I mean its only 10 or 15 baht or whatever to Pattaya with a song thao (or however it spells)

And the beach is like 10 times better in jomtien compared to Pattaya.

Thanks Jim, But I am a lazy bastard... I always like to be in a central area, Close to my favourite restaurants and a stone's throw away from the action, If I booked a place to far away from the action, I would probably starve as I am also a fussy bastard when it comes to food...

Also what happens if I need to fix my hair?? Cant be jumping in tuk tuks back to Jomtiem...5555555...

The difference between a standard room and superior room in the Areca is that you get an in-room safe(electronic) in the superior...
You also have your own safety dep box in reception(BYO padlock)..
