Cathay Pacific

I have sung their praises many times on here

this airline is simply the best dealings with any company i have ever had

due to being extremely indecisive about putting my dog to sleep, i actually called and changed my return flight 3 days in a row, about 3 hours before my flight.
when i finally decided to leave, i got to the airport and i actually booked it for the day before
they had it sorted out in 10 minutes
also, the girl at the counter told me it was 117usd to change, which wasnt the previous days. before she could double check, the ticket office was calling her to tell her that there actually wasnt a charge.

along with the impeccable service on the plane, it really is a pleasure to fly with them

The misses saw Hong Kong Disneyland on TV last night, so it looks like a trip to Hong Kong is on the cards soon.

Cathay is a great airline operating from a great airport. My only complaint about CX is their seats in business class don't fully recline flat - I fot more sleep in economy flying SFO-HKG than I did in business on HKG-YVR, but evering else is fine.
Yes Hong Kong is more expensive than LOS - I use a rule of same number of HKD as THB. In LOS its 60 baht in Hong Kong its 60 Hong Kong Dollars - the exchange rate is 1 HKD = 4.5 THB.
HK Disneyland is OK for a day, just avoid the Chinese Golden Week Holidays, where it gets packed to the rafters, and the parents throw their children over the fence Riots at Hong Kong Disneyland - Disney (Unofficial) - Families.com really!. Just as long as you get a chance to do what you want to do Steve you will have fun - there's a lot more to HK thaan Disneyland!

I've been to HKG numerous times and like the place, we'll probably try and get up that way later in the year. Have to talk my mum into dog sitting.

That would be a sight, kids being thrown over the fence. When is that "Golden Week"??

Golden weeks happen 3 times a year: Chinese New Year, May Labour Day and Mid-Autumn Festival in October. Three days paid holiday are given, and the surrounding weekends are re-arranged so that workers in Chinese companies always have seven continuous days of holiday.

The main problem occurred because people had bought cheap, advance tickets that didn't guarrantee them entry into the amusement park on any given day, for that you have to buy full price tickets. Disneyland also had a policy of not seperating parents from children, so once a child was in the park, however, it had got their, the parent had to be let in also.

Disneyland has four main areas: Main Street USA (to get you to buy souvenirs or part with your money any which way they can), Adventureland (Jungle themed area - Lion King show is good, and the themes there are OK), Fantasyland for kids, young kids, and Tomorrowland (science, space and adventure - space mountain is good). Website is here:- http://park.hongkongdisneyland.com/

Dragonair have thai cabin crew along with Hong Kong, Taiwanese, Chinese, Malay and Japanese. The ones I have seen are not particularly "HOT", but I am impressed with their work attitude towards friendliness, customer service and safety. I just wish they would put the A330 on the Hong Kong to Phuket run more often - its sometimetimes difficult to get flights when I want, and have to fall back on Thai - though there is no great problem there.

I like Cathay too......but as Luke said not as good value if you're in busiuness as their beds aren't as good as some others.....but the food and service does go along way to making up for that.....

singapore is still #1 allround for me in business........followed by AirNZ....and not because I am being loyal or anything but just because they have the best bed I have been on in the air...pity their food and service is not anything special......

Yeap, nothing like the one in Florida. Really small and expensive. I think Disneyland Tokyo is nicer, but also expensive.

Bring her to Ocean Park!!!

US Travel rules put a lot of people off. Many want to visit the country, but just too much hassle, going through all those Visa Interviews and forms. ARGH!!!

Oo i only saw them once, cant really comment. Is there a special waiting area or check in for Dragonair at Phuket Airport? I saw some passengers being taken into the room next to the Tourist Refund room.

The Gold Coast is set to explode. They are lengthening the runway at the airport, and there are already plans for direct flights from Japan.
