Cool

I think this is the site that has been talked about before in that the general consensus appeared to be that BM's had seen their advertisements only to then find that when trying to book those fares, they found those prices were no longer valid and that they were asking for higher amounts.

It would be good to get feedback from anyone trying this time around, i.e. someone who is looking for tickets now and tries to take advantage of these low fares. Did you get the price shown or had it gone up ?

I always tend to use them and I have never had the price jacked-up after enquiry. When I need to change my ticket a couple of weeks ago, I just phoned them for 2 min from Thailand and within 5 min's I had an e-ticket emailed back to me. Very good service!

I am currently keeping my eye on their Thai Air flights for June, have just used their search engine for flights from London - BKK and the price quoted today is £474.

The price stated on the OP's email was £335 which is not matching up. Would be interesting to see what they would say over the phone.

I have found with a lot of these places that advertise a figure and dates yet you get a different rate when you contact them, I think they may only have a couple of seats at those prices as i never have managed to get those prices .

Back in the late '90's they took over the TG concession for discounted flights for Thai Expats living in the UK and used to get my Mrs a 20% discount through them. They have expanded a lot since they had their small office over near Wembly (now Hammersmith).

Now living here have to do everything here, but the times I did use WestEast they have been pretty good - but this is going back a long time.

Don't forget that all the fares shown by Westeast Travel do not include airport tax, or fuel surcharges.

That is why nobody gets the price advertised. Its a bit of a con really when you think about it. They should show the total price!

Actually WestEast now do include airport taxes and fuel surcharges and therefore the £474 price I quoted earlier is correct. They changed their system some time ago as before they used to only give you pre tax prices on the website as you quite rightly pointed out.

I have emailed them and had a response back.

Their response was that due to fluctuations in taxes and fuel surcharges, they cannot advertise the full price including those extras as they change daily. This would mean that they would have to send promotional emails daily to match.

Those prices on the copy of the email in the 1st post are all pre tax but if you log onto the website and use the search you will get the full amount to be paid on view same as you would with Ebookers, Airline network etc..

£474 is still a good price so I'm hoping it stays the same for when I book in a few weeks time.

Hmm, well the website I have logged into shows the fares without taxes and fuel surcharges.

WestEast Travel - Low Cost Flights and Holidays to the Far East

I can't agree with Westeast that the fuel surcharges and taxes fluctuate either as there are companies that have an inclusive price on their website, same as ebookers and Airline Network.

It still seems a little devious to me to show in very small print at the bottom of the page of the link attached that the prices do not include those charges.

Anyway, you seem to have a pretty good price Chris, hope it is still there when you go to book it

The webpage you have shown is some kind of general page, it is when you actually do a seach for flights that you get the real price.
WestEast Travel - Low Cost Flights and Holidays to the Far East

When you see the flight iteneary pages for selected flights, the price is clearly displayed in the blue bar Price Per Adult: GBP 474.00 Including GBP 139.00 Tax and Fees

What you say does confuse me a little as all prices go up and down quite often on all sites, If you check airline-network, Ebookers regularly as I somtimes do near to booking time, you will see this is the case. So surely the surcharges must fluctuate ?

I always find westeast to be a little cheaper than the others, take the Thai Air flight search I have done for June as an example (all same dates outbound & inbound and flying from Heathrow)
These are the 3 prices I am getting right now.
Westeast £474
Ebookers £487
Airline-Network £481

The link I put up is the page with the special offers.

When clicking on your link, it is the homepage of the link I posted.

Also I have never been able to get past entering a depart and return date on Westeast search , when I do that and click on it, it just voids the dates and destination and starts again I don't like their website!

Also, they have two tier pricing. A guy I know booked his tickets from westeast, and his fare was higher than his Thai wife

This is the usual with a lot of these companies , they have a big "Low Price" splashed on their front page , it is only when you start checking flights/dates that the "real" price comes up. To me it is blatant false advertising , and used purely as a "hook" to get you to check out their site.

I wouldn't disagree with at at all.

My own experience of this particluar company has only been good though to be honest. (used them for the last 4 trips) And their 'real price' has been slightly lower than all the rivals each time I book.

I will stop endorsing them now however, as if I'm not careful they will become so popular that there won't by any flights left for me.

Westeast are pants, Airline network and Ebookers rock !!!!

What I tend to do is email them saying "I have seen this price for this company flying to here, can you match it?" Or " what is your best price?". They then email me back with the exactly the same price or there best offer if Ive seen an offer somewhere else. They then phone to get my details and I book it like that.

They will also put your frequent flyer points on if you give you your member number.

We've had this argument before with regards if tax etc is included or not.

The answer is your both right, on the specials board they do not incude tax etc but when you put in dates and where you want to travel then when the price comes up it includes them.

Also airline network quote a different price from the one on there specials board as well

Well I booked with them on the 5th of this month (March) and I paid the price that has been stated i.e. £474. This was made up of Ticket £335 (as they say), tax £137 and schedule airline failure insurance £2. Did it all on the net and have the e-ticket to show for it. They did fine by me.
This is to fly 26th April returning 12th May

Thai airways and eva had specials so the fare of about 486 is valid with a direct flight aslong as you return within one month of going. Im going for 7weeks and it cost me 595 direct. Good thing is its free if i want to return my change date. with the specials that even qatar are giving, it costs 100 pounds to change return dates..
