Just posted in another thread that we went for Poppa Palace in the end. It looks like a good hotel, right spot etc.

I got the e-mail from Tana myself and thought it was the dumbest rule ever; no joiner fee but they can't use the pool? It annoys me that sort of thing, so I struck them right off my list.

Poppa Palace is 1700baht, but I think that will come down to 1375 sfter the 17th. I have asked the joiner fee question and will update when I get the answer.

Steve, I would consider the K Hotel as well. Austrian run, great pool, great restaurant, 30m to top of Bangla Rd. It was 1200Baht in June last year, for deluxe. Phuket Hotels: Begonia Wing K-Hotel, Patong Beach, Thailand

I can see the sense in the rule tho..

Maybe they have had issues with some guests being less that reserved in public.. So to keep the skinny dipping to a minimum this rule is in place..

A no skinny dipping rule would make sense, but to say people can stay but not use the pool is ridiculous to my mind, they can poke it.

I'm beginning to regret my Poppa Palace decision, it's been 5 days and they are still dicking me around for confirmation.

The K hotel looks great, but they have an overbooking arrangement with the Capricorn Villa next door, and that place is fairly basic.
