ij, you would probqably be better in the BMI FF scheme - can credit miles from singapore and buy tickets for miles + cash.

To Claim missing miles you need to have your part of your boarding pass AND the remaining part of your flight coupon (Ticket) unless its an E ticket.

Watch out for things like W class tickest on Thai. This fare only gives you 1/2 the miles you fly.

When I flew to LOS in October with Thai Airways and qualified for Silver after the trip (25k Miles), however, I don't think silver gives you all that much status. It does not give you lounge access and no upgrades (other than redeeming your miles). Gold on the other hand gives you a ton of benies.

I maintain Platinum on Delta and also Silver on American. The American silver gives me little benefits, but Platinum on Delta means 90% of flights are upgraded even at the lowest priced fares, lounge access +100% bonus miles.

In addition to airline miles don't forget credit card miles. I have been a member of American Express Membership Miles for years and have accumulated over 800k miles. Just used 40k to upgrade my next KLM flight to BKK and back.

All this talk of lounge access.. Theres other ways..

When I was younger I was a member of the IoD (institute of directors) it wasnt expensive and had loads of biz perks (able to use a superb oak paneled old boys club in SW1 London for meet and greets.. Worth 10x its costs)..

One of its perks was VIP lounge access.. There other ways to get in there (credit cards etc)..

My buddy is currently doing Thailand to Trinidad 30 day rotations.. His miles this year should be good..

Superb facilities and meeting rooms.. Also as I was about as low as it came on the respectability front.. Having meetings in places like that kinda balanced me out..

Of course I have a story about one of these places!!!

It involves me starting a new job, a very weird managing director and the steam room!!

There was a weird MD that would take us for drinks at the Yale Club
Apparently he's been trying to get half the traders to go for a steam for better part of a year
Me, the new guy, innocently takes him up on his offer and all the other couldn't refuse
So we all end up in the steam room with this weirdo that I just then realized he was a little peculiar
The whole time all the other guys are shooting me dirty looks

I am a memeber of Lufthansa (only because when i have to go back to England or away with work) I will fly them normally. As work pay for me to fly buisness class and i can keep miles it works out fine for me. Worthit for the extra benefits.

I know Lufthansa arn't as good as others but generally i am satisfied.

Yep, I am a Member of the Institute of Supervisory Management, MISM (ITRO £10 per year to keep my membership active) and allows me to use some (Not all) airline lounges on proving membership. Also the Victory Services Club (Ex-Forces) in Marble Arch (£20 rooms in central London) and the SF Club in Mayfair which never shuts, also has some good perks.
