Three weeks ago an American had even trouble bringing his own Philippina wife to his room in Le Meridien. It happened 2 nights in a row and then the GM had a big problem.

The Sheraton is a long, long way from the nightlife party scene. Don't know about the guest friendliness of it though.

Le Meridian is close, but not guest friendly.

I was very dissapointed with the Le Meridien (July 2006). They want to keep you on site eating and drinking in their average/overpriced resaurants (The poolside pizza being the only exception, great).

the thing that irritated me most was they wouldn't let tuk tuks come to the door to pick up passing trade - it's a bit of a hike to the main road to flag one down.

You'd get a girl in if you were prepared to argue the toss at the front desk long & hard but definitely not something they want to see happening.

All round, not the best, wouldn't go back.

As Captain said, le meridien, no joiner fee at all, as they are 100 % positively not allowed to join you at all. No ladies on their premises.

It can done, but you have to go through the whole outraged "I'm a paying guest, if I want to bring a friend onto the premises I will". They'll back down eventually, take her i.d. but not charge you.

It ain't worth the hassle when you can book a better hotel for the same money elsewhere.

Stayed at Meridian in March 06 and took a new girl back to my room everynight.

1500 baht joiner fee. Yep its a ripp off...

Another note to mention: staff can be a bit rude towards your teerak.

Nice hotel with good rooms, pool and beach. You can get a lift into Patong just up the road.

I enjoyed the Meridan but wouldnt stay there again

I've also stayed at the Sheraton, very nice!! but way to far away from Patong

Pic of the Meridian pool from my room

Sheraton

Sheraton is a no.no! Way out from the action and expensive taxis. The girl will be charged full rate and you both will be looked down to. Not up to Sheraton standards elsewhere in my experience.

Valhalla excellent all round

Hi Steffen

I will be staying for 2 weeks at Valhalla in May. It's my 3rd stay there and I can thoroughly recommend it for "men on a mission".

Very friendly staff, bar and good food 24hrs.

Rooms 1 and 2 have a mosaic-lined jacuzzi which the girls cannot resist and it's a 3 minute walk to Bangla. If it's not too late, I would drop the idea of international name hotels if P4P is on your agenda...!

And it's quiet so you can get some sleep when you need to.

All the best

Andy Cap
