cool. this is the plan i'm hoping for.i might even have time for a swift "singha" enroute to my gate!

The problem comes when wrong information is posted !!!!!
The evening flight is at 18.20 ( 6.20pm), OK , not a big deal but , nowhere on the Thai website is there any mention of an 8pm flight. There is a flight listed at 21.45 , so it seems there are now 5 flights from Suvarnabhumi to Phuket.

I know it is not as convenient as before, as there are only 4 flights a day from Suvarnabhumi to Phuket instead of 9 (the other 5 are from Don Muang),

OK that's true but my 6am arrival was gonna connect with the 9.00 Bkk - Phuket flight
Problem 1 - 9.00am flight no longer seems to exist
Problem 2 - Likely to be offered a 10.00am flight from the old airport
Problem 3 - need to convince Thai via booking agent that my transfer should be brought forward to the 8.00 flight to adhear to a flight schedule that I paid a premium for to avoid general messing about in Bkk, as could have gone Middle East ans saved £££
Problem 4 - Airline Network say they aren't making final arrangements as they await clarification from Thai on "procedures".......umm these alterations started today so nice to see Thai have it all organised (not). This lack of clarification is the frustrating one as knowing that something needs to be sorted and not being able to sorted it

Came across this website which gives the schedules for flights leaving Don Muang on Thai,Nokair and One 2 Go. Might be useful for checking your flight.

I am actualy hoping that this is the case for me also... I'm not flying Thai out to BKK but one of there partner carriers (Lufthansa). I have sent both Thai and Lufthansa an email so i hope they will answer soon to clarify this. I have a 2 hour layover in Bangkok and the flight ot Phuket was booked at the same time... The travel agent said "Oh we don't know but in America you will have to go through immigration."
I am assuming that I will do immigration at HKT but any other board members have any ideas?

Have done this lots of times , if you and your luggage are booked straight through to Phuket (staying 'airside' at Bangkok), when you land at Phuket you are directed to "International Arrivals" , and do passport/immigration and customs.

I've done it once coming from Japan, but that instance all was with Thai. But as i will be flying from Frankfurt with Lufthansa then changing to Thai i was a bit more concerned. Thanks for the response tho, much apreciated.

See the screen shot of the Thai website for the mysterious 8.00pm flight. There is a problem, however, as it doesn't seem to be bookable at this point. It (time and number) was not on my old Thai timetable that expired on 25th March. The screen shot does use the word 'Planned' so who knows.
I don't think the 21:45 flights operate in the low season.
And, as for:

I will be contemplating that in 8 days when I land in Phuket after a 9 hour direct flight from Sydney.

Just got this e-mail from one of the sites I use.
Quote:
RE: UPDATE ON Thai Airways OPERATIONS AT BANGKOK DMK & BKK
Please see below some further information regarding the changeover of operations between the two airports.
TG will provide for its passengers free transportation between Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Muang (DMK). All connecting passengers will be assisted and escorted by our ground handling staff or they can contact the information centre in the arrivals hall at both airports. This free service will operate from 25th March to 30th April inclusive.
For those pax who have already departed, & you have not been able to contact, then they will be re-directed to the information centre for further assistance. Thai Airways will endeavour to provide assistance to those pax who need to make connections from an alternative airport.
Where pax mis-connect on domestic flights & are travelling on TG within the same day, TG will absorb and provide hotel accommodations at the Amari Don Muang Hotel and the Miracle Grand Hotel. This may only be requested via TG Reservations (Tel: 0870 6060 911)
Please note that there is no through-check for baggage or passengers between BKK & DMK. Passengers must reclaim all baggage on arrival at BKK & re-check at DMK (& vice-versa) for the domestic flight. Please advise passengers accordingly.

So after the 30th April??
Hopefully I'm being transfered to an earlier flight and will have no need of the transfer service between airports if Thai reservations make good on an e-mail rec'd today from them
anyway thanks for the info

I've got the TG218 into the 'S' one on the 7th (They say all Non-connecting will go to the 'D' one) for the time being...........Read permanently, is my guess.
EK385 into Dubai from the 'S' one at 0125.
Might have time to buy some 'I been Thailand fridge magnets' then?

Thai Air to Phuket at 21:45 ?
To clarify the situation, you can check the flight schedule from BKK to HKT at FLIGHT STATUS - Arrivals | Departures | Suvarnabhumi Airport | New Bangkok Airport Guide.
As you can see, the last flight with Thai Air, and therefore the last flight where you can CHECK YOUR BAGGAGE THROUGH, is at 18:20 departure, i.e. 17:50 boarding, so with some walking you should enter the terminal at about 17:20, touchdown maybe 17:00 - 17:20.
There are two flights to Phuket after 18:20
Orient Thai 20:15
Air Asia 20:20
Air Asia 21:10
This means, you will have to make immigration, baggage claim and checkin again in Bangkok.
This was my information from end of march,
but today I looked again the flight schedule and found the following thai air flight listed:
TG 225 21:45 BKK to HKT with an AB6
so you should be able to check you baggage through with this flight, when you travel with Etihad or some other latecomers.
As you can see, it was flying really yesterday:
Track Flight Status for (TG) Thai Airways International 225
I tracked it back: it is on schedule since March 30,

This flight is definately available , it is on the Thai schedule until Thursday 3rd May , then it disappears , so I guess they stop it for the "low season".
Another point to note is that the last flight from Phuket to Suvarnabhumi is now at 20.40.

Which BKK Airport???
Quote:
|
The 'official' information about using the two airports was confusing and forever changing , and most BM's seem to appreciate the fact that others have taken the time to post the various facts as they became available
|
Yes its comfusing because acc to my travel agent some Phukets flights from BKK goes from the old one.
I maybee have to change airport she tells me
And the funny is that even in May its venting lists on the planes down to Phuket from BKK early in the morning, somebody say low seasoon?
