Singapore Airlines!!

Well have just booked my tickets with them..

Then I noticed that I could choose my seats..

So my question is which are the best seats to choose or are they all the same?

I picked 33k on all flights btw but I can change them...

If memory serves me right 33 is the third row back in economy and is the row I always try to book - I always look for 33C or at least an aisle seat on that row...

Internet Checkin

Hi

I always fly with Singapore, you can check in on line the day before you fly and change your seat.

The trick is to try and find a 3 row that is empty so you can spread out a bit.

Great airline

Regards

Drew

If memory serves me correctly, you hold a Frequent Flyer (FF) card with Thai Airways ? Check out their redemptions section to see if you can get Singapore Airlines Business Class flights for a reasonable rate. By that I mean that you might want to consider changing to BMI's Diamond Club as for 60,000miles and GBP405 + tax, you can go by Business Class. I'm not sure if Thai Air offer the same "part miles, part cash" deal or not. I used this twice when flying from LHR and I have yet to find a better flying experience - this includes 1st Class with BA and Thai I'm not a member of other Star Alliance FF clubs, so I'm not sure if it's something only BMI do or not. Best to check it out with Thai rather than make an assumption and maybe in 3/4 visits time you'll be going Club for the price of Economy (It's 120,000miles for Business Class without cash, just tax). The chances are that you may already be using BMI to get to LHR already ?

I would recommend getting a BMI Diamond Club FF card (even though they don't fly to Singapore/Bangkok), so that you can use their "part miles, part cash" facility to effectively get "cheap" Business Class tickets to Singapore.

Same same me. When I go to Singapore, I always fly SQ and I want an aisle seat on row 33 by preference. I always try to sit as much in the front of the economy as possible. But not on the very front row though.

It depends though which plane they use on your route. On AMS-SIN v.v. they use the 777, but on occasion a 747. Then it might be different a bit.

Main reason for me to be as far front as possible, is that you can beat the crowd on your way to the immigration desks and safe you a long time in line depending where you travel to.

Yeah I do have, On my first trip using the frequent flyer thing with Thai, I gave in the membership number to the BMI check-in staff and they handed it back to me and told me i didnt need it, I didnt really pay much attention to it as I had never done this before so was a little unsure how it worked, But then when I got back and checked, I found out I got no miles and lost some of my stubs so never got the points, Then on my last trip with Singapore I booked through an online-agent and when I went to cash in the points, I was told that them flights were not "Redeemable for Points" by Singapore as they were special tickets, In other words cheapo flights, Although I paid 1000 euro for them

So ended up with no points

This time I have just opened a new account with Krisflyer, And got even better tickets than last time with Singapore for 840 euros booking through there own new irish website Ireland Flights - Singapore Airlines and got 14,700 miles or something... It baffles me though how I payed considerably more money last time and got no points

I have a Krisflyer card as well and thus far I had no problems in having my miles added to my account. Usually my secretary books the flights if I go for business or I use the SQ website if I go privately.
However, I do agree that when you book special tickets, like with a package deal or when you use a special action tariff, you will not be able to accumulate miles. That is the "penalty" you pay for using cheap tickets. I think there is no difference with many other airlines.

Since the beginning of this year, I also have the Dynasty Card from China Airlines. For my trip in March and also May, I booked through the China Airlines website and for my May-trip, because it is a action tariff (AMS-BKK vv € 653 all-in), they will give me about half the miles of a normal ticket.

If you still have your boarding passes of the flights where you didn't get you points, then you can still have them added to your account afterwards. Just check the (in this case) SQ website. There you can also download forms to re-claim your miles.

Hope the above helps you a little.

It's usually dependant on the booking class (single digit letter somewhere on the ticket), some will give no miles, some x 0.5, business usually x2 and first x3.

VERY good advice from Diz about BMI - can credit your miles from Singapore, Thai, Qatar and others to BMI and do the cash + miles thing to get very good deals.

Smile

I fly Singapore maybe 100 flights a year it seems and always pick a back of cabin seat on the online seat chart the day before I fly (usually coach). Why the back of the cabin? Well, I'm surprised none of you other letchers have figured out that an isle seat in the rear of the cabin gives you prime view of 6 or 7 luscious stewardesses the whole flight. If you sit up front you miss the show, which is the best service in the industry. Usually you can find 3 across open which gives you the room to spread out. A long flight of lovlies is more important than a jump start to immigration too me, when you gotta wait for baggage anyway. Seeing all those hinnies working a few hours gets me in the right mood. Especially when they stretch to close all those baggage compartments and push their belly button in your face. Yes I am a letcher, but of course that's why I'm here.

Depends on the Airline if you have good leg room. I'm 6'2" and never have a problem on Singapore Air, so I don't worry about exit row.

Yeah they are the best airline I have flown with aswell, The only reason I am not booking the exit seats is because then you lose out on the entertainment, Yeah its nice to stretch the legs but I also like to chill out and watch "Father Ted, Only Fools and Horses etc" maybe a couple of movies or listen to a little bit of music, Which you lose out on if you book the exit seat...

I am also 6'2" but normally find it easy enough to get about 5hrs sleep on the plane...

sometimes on the 747 exit row the window seat has worse legroom because the door intrudes into your space , cer
