accommadation ideas?

hi to you all,
i bet this question has been asked several times,but here goes: me & the wife arriving around the 5th jan 08 for 7 weeks,have tried certain different ways to try&get accommadation for this period but they are either too big or very expensive, i dont mind paying the going rate for a 1bed, self catering,basic,clean apartment.please any suggestions?
