Rico's Hotel. Soi Bangla Square
Hi guys,
Been over 10 years since my last trip to Phuket. Stayed at Sea Pearl. Nice enough place but 700 baht for joiner and double bed was 2 singles pushed together ! Thinking about Rico's Hotel this trip. No joiner fee when I asked. Fairly new place so have been unable to find any reviews. Any BM have any info. ?
Thanks Hall

Haven't heard about it , or known anyone who's stayed there. Looks O.K from their website.

Thanks. I checked out their website which looks OK.
I guess the hotel is owned by the same owners as Rico's Steakhouse. But can find no independent review anywhere. Guess it must be very new. Maybe I'll be their first customer ! I'll write a review !!!

Been open awhile, seen it from outside but never been in or stayed there. It is owned by the same guy that owns Rico's, a swedish guy probably called Rico, dont know, went to his golf tournament in December, I called him Rico and he answered me, so could be or just might get called it all the time.
Anyway write a report with a few pics when you get back and you'll then be the reporter.

Sorry this post is very late as I have been unable to post on the board. Finally figured out the board didn't like my old Email address.
Stayed a couple of nights at Rico’s Hotel in May. As best I can tell it was formally the Holidays Hotel. It is located just down Soi Bangla Square from Rico’s restaurant. The place looked to be newly renovated. Everything looked nice and new. I had one of the smaller rooms but there was plenty of space. Large bed, safety box, some view to the south (I was on the 3rd floor) and quiet. There is a separate shower stall in the bathroom but it is very small. It would be difficult for more than one person to shower at once. The bed was comfortable and not hard as a rock (I spent a few nights at C&N where the beds are very hard IMO). They advertise WiFi but my laptop would not get a signal on the third floor. No problem down in the air conditioned lobby where there are lot of places to sit and use a laptop. They don’t charge a joiner fee (or didn’t at that time) for a female guest. I didn’t ask about more than one guest. But a couple of Emails got a fairly quick response to such questions back in April. BTW the entrance to Soi Bangla Square is only visible to a few bars on Bangla Road. So not every BG in town will see where you are going when taking a date home :-). RMJ.
Thanks for the review. Sounds OK. Coincidentally I was due to stay in May 2007 but had to cancel. Will try again in May this year.
Cheers Hall.

I have booked a deluxe room at Rico's Hotel for the first two weeks of our stay in Patong in March/April. Like other's I didn't find too much infomation about it on the net, but yes, it look's alright from their websites. It's located in Soi Bangla Square so it is close to the action, and that was what we were looking for.
The prise for a deluxe room is 1750 Baht from March 15, booked through Nicke's site.

Looks like they have renewed the place quite well..........Its an old building that used to be a shit-hole..............Think its nice and quiet in there after midnight as the bar-area in the end of the soi never seemed to work (soi Viking)

Hi Øystein!
Good to hear that you were happy with the hotel, hopefully they will be finish with the construction work before we arrive.

It looks like there is a pool at Rico's Bungalow's in Kata, there is no indication
of a pool on their web-site for Rico's hotel in Patong!

When I was there I didn't notice noise from Bangla and it was quiet. I was not there during the construction mentioned.

No, when I was there the only access was from Bangla. As Bangla is for walking only at night you will have to walk from Rat-U-That down Bangla to Bangla Square.
