JW Marriott

Will be staying at the JW Marriott for four nights. It looks quite nice but as I understand it is somewhat isolated at the north end of the island.
Is there any local actvity such as restaurants etc. or are you sort of stuck with the facilities at the hotel? Thanks!

there's a shack type restaurant quite near - good for cheap afternoon beers and the Marriott bar has a pretty good cocktail happy few hours.
If you're alone you might be bored .... great hotel though, try to get a ground floor room.

for shack type restaurant go to the ?north? pool (smaller pool) and head right for 5 mins or so along the beach.
also each massages are v good and aout 1/10th of hotel massage, can get the beach massage girls into the hotel on payment of circa 500 baht + massage fee (doubt they do any hanky panky - didn't ask).

This info is 18 months old .....

Thanks. What about food at the "shack"? It looks as if the restaurants are quite expensive. OK for a meal or two but every meal for a family for four days will be alot.

Can you get a tuktuk or taxi at the hotel? How far away must you go for a decent local restaurant?

food at the shack - only order well cooked stuff - no salads, one girl i was with was ill for a couple of days after a salad.
Food in the hotel isn't too expensive given that it's a 5* though granted for 4 it could add up. reakfast is good if you have a big appetite, poor value otherwise.
Transport - the hotel provides a minibus a couple of times a day to phuket town/patong - maybe ask on here for the number of a reliable driver or hire a car yourself.
