Oneway ticket warning

I went to check inn at the jet star counter at Melbourne airport last Thursday, and was told I would not be able to board my flight to Thailand unless I could show an onward ticket (I had a one way). The staff said under “new" Thai government regulations they would no longer give visa on arrival with out proof onward travel. Luckily I had a 60 day visa, so they allowed me to get on the plane. So just be aware.

I got a warning of this when i tried to book a one way ticket from Phnom Penh to BKK wit Air-asia (Online).

Also, LiL posted something about visa runners doing the cambo/thai land border had been refused re-entry without a ticket.

I have always thought it was the law in Thailand!

When I checked in at LHR in December, I was asked to show a Visa as my return flight was over 30 days after arrival (32 origanally!). If I didnt have it, Thai Air said they wouldn't let me on the flight. It says this on the Website also.

This has been that case for as long as I have been coming here.. At least 7 or 8 years back.. No visa then need an onward ticket..

Immigration dont check it but airline check ins sometimes do (they are responsible for sending you home if your not allowed in).. KLM used to always.

This came on me as a surprise in the end of last year actually.
I have been flying in and out of LOS 10 or 15 times at least, and have never been asked for a onward ticket either at check-in or immigration.

And in some cases i didn't even have one..

Yeah has been the case for many a year, previously as living in Thailand my flights originated from there, but have started lately getting my company to issue tickets for the next trip so as to have a flight out ticket if asked, not taking any chances
