Flight options from Ireland?

Hey all,

calling seasoned Irish mongers ... any tips on the best flight options from Dub to BKK ? .. best to go with the likes of Budget Travel or cheap-air to the UK and wing it from there?

thanks!

Ratz.

Couldn't help you with a specific airline; but in general stick with a single itinerary. If you have more than one you may not be able to check you luggage through to the destination and you may not have any protection for canceled or delayed flights.

Have a look at ebookers.ie too.

Book Dub -> BKK, rather than messing around with Ryanair or Easyjet etc to the UK... Just my opinion though, I had a bad experience doing that flying to the USA one time.

Hi Ratz

I always find trailfinders the best. You have to phone them, you cannot get prices on the internet. You can usually get china airlines via Bnagkok at a reasonable price (through Trailfinders). Depending on the day of the week you want to travel, Emirates can be competitive also. I am going in a couple of weeks and I got a great fare with Swiss Air booking direct on the Internet.

It might also be worth looking up clubtravel.ie they search through most of the airlines.

Good luck and enjoy LOS

Try www.expedia.co.uk and see what they bring up. If not to actually book through them (although i find that sometimes they do have some good prices) but just litterally for the list of options you will have and see if it will work out cheaper to be re-routed via another european airport for example Amsterdam or Frankfurt, or as previously mentioned via the Mid-East. Another option would be to see how much for example KLM will charge for a flight and look into easyjet flights to Amsterdam and spend a night there, taking in another city, although this would not be first on my list of options but still should be mentioned.

I booked on klm.ie cork-amsterdam-Bkk only 2 weeks ago 19may-2jun ,722euro. They had dub-paris-bkk for the same price on the same day...

In the past i have booked Qatar airlines through travelsupermarket.com(uk site) to go heathrow-doha-bkk. I made my way to heathrow on a seperate booking with aerlingus. This worked out about 730euro. Traveled with china airlines via amsterdam 780euro. I have never paid more than 830euro...

If you going in August look very closely at those Etihad flights.
A very good airline, a short pit stop to stretch the legs in AUH,have a smoke, a coffee, get some duty free, and onto BKK. Dearer than some other options, but your luggage will be transferred through to BKK from Ireland.

Talking game on :)

Hokay! .... got the go-ahead from le boss today and have booked a little over two weeks holliers in July ... guess where I'm going teehee ... I have done a ton of reading up and checking out various ticket sites etc and it seems I will be shelling out approx 1000 euros to get there and back ... I thought since it was low season it might have been cheaper but it seems not .. cheaper in our winter! ... oh well, think I'd be happy paying double for what I hope is going to be a rather good experience! ... the current plan is spend a few nights in BKK, then down to Pattaya, then back to BKK for two nights before flying out. More as I plan it up ! can't wait to break me cherry <vbg!>

It is low season over in LOS Ratz so hotels will be cheaper and if you shop around you can get good deals but your flying from here in the Summer & its School Holiday time so no cheap flights from here sadly.

oh well! ... I suppose with the conversion to Euro, taxes, flight from land of the little green men to UK airport, taxes, blah, that'd be a little shy of 750/800 euro ... I just got off the phone earlier and paid 980 ... seemed about average - with Eithad, routed Dublin/Adi Ababas(sp!)/BKK .... its a nice flight break also .. two same(ish) flights it seems, rather than one short haul and a very long one.

guess what ..... can't wait, can't wait

Etihad are a good airline. Used them before LHR- Abu Dhabi - BKK. A nice 45min break in AUH on the way out and the luggage goes all the way to BKK.

Etihad used to a cheaper airline, but have now increased their prices but still compete with Emirates through the M.East.

good to hear - I wasn't to sure - was a bit concerned they might be a long-haul Ryanair ... was tempted to pay an extra 2 hundred and go with air france, but thought, nah, why give it to AF when I can give it to a few BGs instead

Air France They are rubbish You might get to BKK but your luggage won't. Possibly the worst airline for losing luggage.
