Discussion : Banthai Beach Hotel
Have been to Phuket at Patong several times. Noticed Banthai above Starbucks but did not stay there as it is rather pricey compared to the rest.
Come this October I will be coming back to Patong with my GF and planning to stay in Banthai. Can anyone share their experience here other than it's good location? Thanks

i dont think it is worth the money.
the rooms, which i had a pool entry room, are too small
also, is your gf thai??
they were not all that great to my thai gf
an alternative that isnt as luxury as Baan Thai but i enjoyed was Baan Lamai which is on beach road
the room was really nice and the pool was quiet

Thanks for your reply. No my GF is not a thai. I thought the location is very good for Banthai and besides, they are having a discount of around 50% during May to October I believe.
Baan Lamai? Thanks, i go check out the website now!
Edit-
Renovation (05/01/07 to 10/31/07)
Please be informed that Baan Lamai Beach Resort has a plan to renovate in the front office area – nearby the hotel restaurant. This renovation will start on 01 May 2007 and run about 6 months with the expected completion date of 31 October 2007. Daily construction hour will be from 09.00 – 18.00 hrs.
During the construction, the hotel is open for business as usual and not hotel facilities on Food & Beverage outlets will be affected, though some part of the hotel buildings will be closed to avoid noise that might disturb the guests.
Hmm i guess thats out for now

Banthai
This is a great Hotel, I spend about 12 weeks a year in there and get a 2000 baht per night rate, and it is GF friendly for me.
The staff are really friendly and the location is the best that there is in Patong.
If you can get a good rate then I would stay there.
Regards
Drew

Thanks for all the response and feedback appreciated! I really like the location of banthai and hence the reason im considering it strongly. Also, in Oct when im going, the rooms are cheap. Instead of around 4000b, they are going for around 2000b in asiarooms.com So i may just grab.
Nevertheles im keeping my options open by reading up on the rest. previously when im here, I stayed at Deevana as well as Royal Paradise.

I remember, that quite a few people lost their lives in this hotel in tsunami 04'.
Don't know if it's true....but I've been told, there are "ghosts" roaming the area.

Not True
Pablo
I was in the Hotel when it Happened and no one died, they had a private party the following December for those of us who returned with lots of free booze and speeches which was nice of them.
I stayed in the Hotel on the night of December 26th after the Tsunami with no power or lights and have stayed since and I have never seen any 'Ghosts', maybe they like me.

I would agree with that; there are lots of Scary Monsters with Large Adam's Apples and Big Hands and Feet 'Floating' down the beach road after the Midnight Witching Hour, wailing and looking for victims to pray on..........
They need to be Excersied and have their evil spirts 'Cast Out' before they 'move onto the other side'.

Good Luck
Have a good time, I love it there
Phuket Resort Hotel and Patong Resort Hotel and accommodation in Patong Beach, Phuket Thailand
They have a great Pool when you can lounge by and swim up to the Pool Bar and order a beer or some Chicken Satay when you are feeling peckish.
Then the best time of day is when the sun is going down and you can stroll to the end of their street and sit in the Starboard Bar and watch the world walk by.
You can also try this place, which has recently opened above Starbucks, which has an outside decking area which is also a great for watching the sunset and world go by.

Have a great time.

Back from Banthai,
One word to describe my experience... excellent! Service was good right from the start. Service staff are friendly, and took the effort to bring us to our room, explain to us all the different items in the room, how to operate the safe etc.
Room is pretty big with a sofa to lie down with a nice clean bathtub. There is also a shuttle service by a buggy to The Port, where breakfast is served even though it is just 1 minute away.
Swimming pool is good, with jacuzzi and staff nearby at the bar counter at the pool to attend to you. I have nothing but praises for it and best of all, I paid only like US70 per night for the superior room as it is low season.
