Malaysia Airlines Hotel Voucher

So I get my air tickets in the mail from Malaysia airlines. Fly from Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur and have a 6hrs layover (1215p to 630p) to catch my next flight to Phuket. Surprised when I found a Hotel (Concorde inn), a lunch and transportation vouchers included. Is this normal Malaysia Air policy or am I just special?

I would not say it is standard, but it happens more often that when your layover at KL is more than 5 or 6 hours, you will get this surprise package.

My friends flew AMS-KL-AKL last February and had to wait for 8 hours in KL and got the same package.
Good service, I think.

Thanks...obviously some sort of policy. Just seems like an expensive perk for an airline that losses money. I have no intention of using it anyways. Clearing customs, shuttles back and forth and security clearance it just doesn't make sense. Booked a room at the airside transit hotel that is located by the international arrival and departure gates. So I should be able to get 5 hrs sleep.
