Your opinion on Best/budget room

Hello, Ive browsed through and see alot of places but I am seeking simple, economical, and yet some quality. Can someone suggest a place that is lets say between 600-800 baht a night that is air conditioned, water works most of the time, and maybe a pool?.......ill pay more but trying to get a range.....I found one place for 300 us a week, but wanted some tips from people that have actually been there in Phuket (near bangla)

Summer Breeze....click on the advertisement to the right of your poost...it's the BM's favourite.....owned by Bill a well liked and respected BM......do a search in this section for BM's comments.....it is in your price range until end Oct.....but goes up to double in the Peak Xmas/Jan period....as do the vast majority of places

I'll second that. Just stayed at the Summer Breeze for 1 week. They took excellent care. Great food, good location right by Bangala. Bill and Cathy and the rest of the staff are really nice and super friendly. Rooms are in the 800 baht range right now and they have access to a pool even though I never used it!

As pointed out, it really depends what time of year you are talking about. Prices roughly double during peak season!

Salem Mass. Another Masshole! There are some places around Summer Breeze that I saw for 450b a night. Start at the Summer Breeze and if you think you want to save $10 then move.

The Summer Breeze "premium" is worth it. Free pool, free computer, security, nice people etc.

$10.

Length of stay.. Time of stay.. etc etc etc..

I just put my mate in a clean room, cable TV, maid service and sheets, and a pool.. for 9000 baht per month..

Superb deal IMO.

The place is a guesthouse that deals with long stay expats.. Thats the price to walk in and haggle low season. Theres a lot of surplus rooms right now and anybody staying monthly is good news to guesthouses that may only be 30 - 40% full.

Vises hotel and baan ton sai also have rooms at (or close to) those rates and both have a pool.. They dont have rooms as nice tho.

When is your intended stay, if you mean end of high season next year then forget booking now.

Shouldn't be a problem a couple of weeks ahead of time but that is high season. October would be 1/2 price and its a good time to go. I was just there in May and thought it was the best time to go.

The real low prices I mention are never going to be published.. For example baan ton sai was (from memory) 1200 ish online, 600 or 800 on signs, 400 if you argued and stayed a month.. They never publish the really low rates as it gives them wiggle room when they are not full and allows them to adjust pricing.

I got a room in a new apartment block opposite Cristins for 7000, which I thought a bargain until I realised why - there's building sites in every direction, creating noise 24/7. When things seem too good to be true they usually are.

As for occupancy rates, i reckon they are low as hell. Some guesthouses are closing for low season and you can get incredible bargains - one near me is offering rooms at 250 a night. Large hotels seem practically deserted as well.
