Ethiad Guest programme
Have any BM's used this for booking reward flights???
I was surfing their site last night, I used them last month pearl class Manchester - Bkk and got 20,000 miles, I was just looking to see how many miles I needed for a freebie, typed in Man - Bkk and it was 75,000 or 56,000 plus cash but the slider was faded out as it was a minimum of 56,00 miles I only have 20,000.
Dont have enough for that I thought so out of curiosity I tried pearl class.
150,000 for a freebie but the slider came up and if I used my 20,000 I had a £1400+ for £825 including taxes, now thats a good deal.
Just tried again and took the slider right down to 4 miles and they still only want £925 cash including taxes.
Can this be true, a £500 saving for only 4 airmiles used????
It says taxes included but the only thing it doesnt say that it does say on a normal booking is fuel surcharge.
So if any BM.s have used the guest seat programme Id like to know if their are any hidden charges.
Thanks

Bookings
Hiya Mars
I am not sure, I have just been on their website and it looks like a nice airline.
I alwys travel Manchester to Singapore then on to Phuket with Singaporeair, who I like but they are expensive.
They have a similar system you get about 15,000 miles for the journey in economy, so the rewards are about the same.
I acrued over 75,000 miles with Singaporeair so I booked a free return flight at Xmas this year (usually costs £1,000) and all was OK but I had to pay about £100 for the fuel surcharge.
What did you think of Ethiad, were the planes as new and seast as big as they say and is the booze free.
Also what was the lay over like, it seems about 2 hours. Do you stay on the flight or get out and wonder round and are there any bars to have a drink in whilst you are there.
Regards
Drew

It is a very good airline Drew. Used it on many occasions (twice to LOS).
Yes, you do leave the plane, and your luggage is transferred to the new flight.
Not sure of the stopover from Manchester, but AUH Airport is small, compact and has some great duty free bargains. You can smoke freely upstairs.
Booze is free and plentiful, the planes are new A777 to BKK, Business looks nice although I haven't had the pleasure of that yet.
Edit No bars in Abu Dhabi Airport unfortunately. Its too small

Ethiad were good Drew
Plenty of room in Pearl Zone, you had like a little compartment to yourself room to put your feet up in front then the seat came up and made like a little bed, It even had a massage thingy in it but no happy ending, bit short for me and Im only around 5'10'' ish but a lot better than economy.
Yes Booze was free and plenty of food, I was stuffed. good size monitor for watching films too but I stuck to music.
You do change planes in Abu Dhabi, time to have a walk around a drink and a bit of shopping.

Mars, I'll let you in on a secret.
you took the top 75000 mark which is the guestseats, if you took the long line with 75000 icons below that (the open seats) you can actually pay with even one mile and the rest cash. in other words 15000 miles will give you 20% discount (excl tax price).
If you use this as frequent flyer you will always pay the lowest tier price. so even though the fare is not available on the open market you will get it for the lowest price.
There are no hidden costs. Just plain simple pay the remainder of the price and the taxes as usual and that is it. Just did it myself with 25000 miles
