Aug does always seem to be expensive...Look in the travel/accom section and there is a stickie with loads of links to travelsupermarket etc...

My mate was talking about going to LOS in August 3 months ago...He changed his mind cos its too expensive...Think the cheapest he could get from ire was 1300eur/£850?. Most of the time you can get it for 700-800.
Thats 500 eur in the diff (£340)...He is now going to Isreal....HTF does that compare?

Hi there!

As with the shool holidays beginning to start in only one weeks time here in almost whole Europe the Airlines doubling the prices for all the Euro-Family Tourists visiting all over Thailand and specially Samui.

Its hard to find a decent flight for under € 750,-. I was in the exact same situation. Was looking at prices end of May till middle of June and Thai Airways had direct flights from Europe-Bkk for around € 349,- plus Airport Taxes. So around €490,- inkl. Taxes. Workwise i was forced to leave later so i had to find a flight for July.

Seems all the Airplanes have doubled on the Prices from Mid to End of July till September. Payed over €820,- for a direct Europe-BKK-Europe Roundtrip in beginning of July.

Its really only the start of school holidays here so travel agents and airlines can max out on profits made on Euro Family Tourists visiting SE Asia.

Good look in finding good deals... gonna be hard.

cheers

Chris

If you think its a once in a lifetime chance to go for a month it may be worth £350 extra for the flight.

No good sitting in work for the next 6 months or a year wishing you had gone.

moneysupermarket.com is pretty good to find a cheap flight as it searches most of the other websites but always check the airlines own site too they are often cheeper.

Hi Tas 1, keep an eye on Teletext as you can get some good deals (as long as you're not flying from Scotland)

If you looked on Airline Network for that Eva Air flight, its now unavailable and gone up to £1080 (Dep 24th July)

Have a look at www.westeasttravel.co.uk

They sometimes have some good direct flights with Eva and Thai.

Truthfully though, you are stuffed. School holidays have started by then and prices rocket.

If it saves you some cash, yes go for it. Dubai city centre is only 10mins taxi away. Dirt cheap fares and easy to get a taxi back to the airport.

It will be damn hot, much hotter than LOS ever is, so be aware of that. Expect 48C easily and 95% humidity, its unpleasantly hot.

Good chance to have a city tour and go into the souks for some shopping/browsing. Or airconditioned malls that make Jung Ceylon look cheap.

9hrs free time is plenty, and gives you a good chance to stretch your legs between flights.

Just saw your other post.
Etihad don't stop in Dubai. Its Abu Dhabi, and I wouldn't waste 9hrs waiting there. Also its around £10 each way and 45mins drive to the city.
Not too much to see there, but a few beers in a A/C hotel or wander around malls would pass the time.
PM me if you take that stop over. I have spent a lot of time in Abu Dhabi

What dates are you going Tas??? I did check some flights for end of July to end of august and I found China Airlines was just over 650 GBP using priceline.co.uk

All the others started at just over 700 GBP.

Look on the brightside - hotel prices will a lot cheaper than the high season. You will get some good deals in Patong during low season.

Just did a check on travelsupermarket.com leaving LHR 2nd Aug and returning
29th August - Etihad 614 GBP through Ebookers.com!!

Looks like a long wait though in Abu Dhabi. But then underneath it is 629GBP also with Etihad with 15 hour total travel time there and back so i guess only an hour or 2 wait in Abu Dhabi!
