Grand Sukumvit by sofitel Guest Freindly

Hey All

Just a quick question i need to know if this hotel on soi 6 is guest freindly , i have found an amazing deal and want to book it soon if the answer is yes..

Its on soi 6 off soi nana, very quiet and a great location ... Ive seen all the best hotel in bkk and found this ones rooms to be better than the JW marriot (i think is over priced severly and your paying more for the name ),

Its either this or the majestic grande, stayed in teh dynasty inn to but as this is my last trip for a long time i want to go out with style

any help welcomed thank you

A couple of years ago I stayed at the Sofitel Silom (only 4 star), which is near Patpong of course. I knew I may have trouble, and sure enough they blocked myself and Patpong bargirl completely (at the elevator), without even the option to pay a joiner fee. I think it was the way she was dressed.

The next night I brought a FL from the CM2 disco at Novotel who was dressed to the nines and we had no problem... but that was at 4AM.

I would guess that the more the girl looks like a guest, the better chance you will have getting her in.

Again, this was not the same hotel you want to stay in, but it is part of the same family of hotels.

I´m 100% sure they want a joiner fee from you, I did email them before, and if you look at bangkoktonight you will find the same answer, sad yes, as its a nice hotel.

If you go for the 5 star then try sheraton Grande, very nice, stayed there 10 days in may, and is very GF

yeah i did only a week agon. vnice but out of my budget completly, as is the sheraton grande unless i got it cheap on priceline .

I actually prefered the majestic grandes rooms more than the JW and it half the price too , I dont really wanna pay more than £40-45 a night and the sofitel hotel was normally 5000 baht but i was getting it for 2900 hence me asking the question as its rooms were the nicest i have seen including the JW and the MJ and the dynasty inn

Oh well thanks for the info

Agree with you sofitel is nice, too bad they got the JF

So true Bono the pool is Lame with a capital L , i cant even do lenghs there without hitting something, the dynasty inns pool on the otherhand is great as is there gym , but the room is a bit bare and doesnt have that 4 star five star feel , but still nice though

If they are true to their word, then there is no joiner fee. Print out that email and take it with you should one of the hotel staff try to charge a guest fee when you settle the bill.

matt if ur interested expedia are doing it for 200 pounds for 5 nights , but this MAY or MAY NOT include taxes so they say so worst case scenerio is £250 for the stay .... not bad

but im still not sure about the guest freindlyness of the hotel so may opt for the majestic grande at about £42-43 per night , i know what im getting there for sure .

I'd stick with the deal Expedia is giving you. And the hotel confirmed the no joiner fee deal. Latestays.com advertised 3400BT for the studio. As for me I'm booked at Unico Sukhumvit they have a good deal on their deluxe room.

OK people i was hoping someone may be able to help me out .

For me its between the Majestic Grande at 2969baht(£43) per night in the premier room 35m sq , with breakfast all in ... 140840 baht for five nights , so total is £215... I know what im getting and ive stayed her before lovely hotel great location.

VS The grand sukumvit. @ about 3312 baht (£47) per night . 35 sq m room and NO Breakfast , so total is £238 , good location also , soi 6 , havent stayed here before though but the rooms IMO looked better than the JW , and were really nicely styled .

I think i have a stand a fair chance of getting an upgraded room in both as ive stayed in the MJ 3 times b 4 and have signed up to Sofitel previlege crap card .

In terms of price its £25 quid difference , im not coming to thailand again for a long time as im starting a new job also im putting it on a 12 month interest free credit card so hey i dont have to pay it back till next year , lol

I would really like opinions of anyone who can be bothered , im the kinda person , no joke who spends 5 mins in a petrol station deciding what chocolate to buy im that bad !!!! Lol .

heres the websites for anyone who want to help this sad idiot out

Everything you have stated here (breakfast, price, location) are somewhat negligible events/issues. I think it all depends on whether you want to stay in a new hotel or just go back to the MG, which is what you have experienced before. You say it will be a long time before you go back, so I recommend trying the new place, even if just to get a new lodging experience. If things don't work out, then change hotels...

I stayed at the Grand Sukhumvit (Sofitel) last October and I was impressed. The rooms were luxurious with a full living room, galley kitchen with full-size fridge and a bathroom with a glass-enclosed walk-in shower that the BG's really loved. It would be a 5-star hotel in my opinion - I had a similar rate to what you've been quoted and if you get on the Sofitel website that rate always seems to be available.

There was also an excellent buffet breakfast that was free, even though I was also told that breakfast wasn't included. Now that the hotel management has confirmed that it is girl-friendly, you can't go wrong!

hotel is guest friendly, booked a suite last november, and girl just could come up to my room without me having to come to lobby. no fee at all, they also allowed the girl to stay one more night (I did check out at around 9pm and had to pay 1 full night more)
