Smoking.....

Simon - that is correct but also when I visited recently reception confirmed you can smoke on balcony and around the pool.
this is fine for me as I never smoke in the room so I'll be looking to book Areca if I return to Pattaya.
Also I'd fully support Marc's recommendation on the 2 pools both look very very nice large and well kept. Only thing about the room I quickly inspected was the carpet was a bit worn/stained........must be all those bodily fluids!!!

I managed to book the areca for 4 days in August , after all the rave reviews etc i think its the right choice , i live being central but not too in the middle of things !.
Im hoping the standard room will be up to scratch and at least have a safe , if not i may well upgrade to thier best room , but its double the price not sure if its worth it
Thanks for the the help one again

and who knows, some people might cancel and you can switch to a deluxe room. Send them an e-mail once a week to tell them that you are still interested in a deluxe room and maybe something will open up. If you booked with Sawadee, they can check for you.

I went back to Areca Lodge without a reservation when I came back early from Phuket. I needed to stay for a week. They did not have a deluxe room available at that time but they were very accommodating. They gave me a standard room for one night and then moved me to a deluxe. Great place overall, and all the rooms are spacious.
