That sign is now been taken down, those rooms are across the road from the main complex and those prices are for May 1st through to September 30th.

I showed Nid this thread yesterday and she remembers "Mr.Badapple".

Nid's side of the story...

This man come to my guesthouse and ask about room for 500baht. I show him the ones across the road and he says that they are a bit small. I then show him a room on this side (the main complex) and he likes the room but all the time he says he only pay 500baht because is low season and room is empty. I tell him this room 800baht.

When he check out, he say to girl who give him bill that 500baht for the room not 800baht. The girl call to me and I tell him that he must pay 800baht as I never tell him that he can have room for 500baht.

Isn't it funny that there is always another side to each story and the truth always seems to come out in the end It would appear that Badapple has been a little bit economical with the truth.

Badapple - you cheap charlie !!

Hmm.. suspect it could be in the middle.. You know what Thais are like at conflict communication..

If you state "I will only pay 500".. Its not unusual for them to just hope they are not there at the check out..

None of us were there so will never know..

Which is probably a good way to wrap this up and say that this thread has now run it's course.

I presume she also read the posts where BMs indicated they are taking their custom away from the KN because of the booking system?

PS: I met Nid on my last trip to Phuket, and she is a nice person.

Yes I did. One thing she told me is that she is looking at changing the email address from hotmail as she claims that she has replied to everybody in the past. However, it may be a "face" thing as LivinLOS suggested earlier.

As for bookings being kept once confirmed - she has showed me her system and it a nice colour-coded spreadsheet with all the room numbers and dates in a big grid, simple enough stuff for you and me to understand, but the average low-skilled Thai will not have a clue and make mistakes, even miss stuff. In my opinion, she desperately needs an admin person who knows computers and can handle all this, but who will do that job for such small pay and with hardly anything to do ? I think this is the real problem here, just 40 rooms and no real justification to employ someone full time to look after this. At present she has regular customers who go back (like me) time after time and also has many connections from her previous restaurant business as well as those of her husband's bar in Bangkok.

In short, they do not have problems attracting guests and therefore the bottom line is healthy. Given that, why do they need to worry about it ? Not ideal from our point of view as customers but begrudgingly understandable given what we know about Thai culture.

I think that could be a good start. I sense that lot of spam/junk filters these days can be 'over enthusiastic' and that something like her hotmail address could be getting captured.
