House rental

I will be seeking a house for rent early next year for long term.
Around 3 beds, pool and preferably golf with easy access to good beaches.
Can anyone give me a ball park figure of rentals and their contracts/pitfalls, best areas etc.
Just my wife and I.

On another note we have 2 cats and dont know whether to take them with us or leave them with family. Any experiences on this? I relise LOS is not exactly cat friendly!!

Thanks
Den

25k min (pool usually commands that kind of money even shared) up to the skys the limit.. Somewhere in the 40 - 60k range gets a villa / large place with its own pool out of Patong or the expensive west coast.. Easy to push that to 100k for seaviews and high end stuff like that.

Time of year also has a large effect.. The cyclical nature of high season and people escaping Euro winters.. In the last month I have seen some nice priced rentals with private pool in the 30 - 35 ish range.

We all have our own opinion of best areas, so take a cheap hotel room for a couple of weeks, tour the island and choose what suits you best. Early part of the year, indicates high season, so be prepared to negotiate for a short while then look again in april/may, get better long term deals and have more idea what youy want to stay in and where.

Cats cannot comment on as 'up to you', I've never liked cats so am certainly not impartial but would consider a cat as an outside animal and maybe one not local, so to speak, might not know how to handle the greetings when meeting scorpions, snakes or monitor lizards. But heck they all gotta eat!!!
