THE problem is that once i had payed £100 deposit at the time of booking there was no point in cancelling my booking with china air because i would have lost the £100.
ethiad airways i was not aware they flew from glasgow i knew about emerites and quatar !
dawsey unfortunately for me using a thai airways direct flight means 1) a flight from glasgow to london which would add at least another £80 to my ticket price
2) thai only fly from heathrow and as i said earlier i dont want to go anywhere near that hell hole 5555555
thanks for all the replies guys but my ticket is now paid for just means drinking singha instead of heineken during my holiday (as if 5555555)

Those flight prices I quoted were from Glasgow. That price would include the flight down to London.

If you were able to get into the habit of paying in full when booking you would have no surprises - price you pay is the final price.
As long as you're finalising dates around 6 weeks out I don't see any advantage in holding a deposit for an expensive flight - you've made that decision (non refund stuff), no-one else.

Although Heineken is probably the most well-known and exported beer brand world wide and even it is Dutch, more and more of my friends don't drink it anymore, unless it is from the draft.
More popular real Dutch brands are Grolsch and Brand.
But here Belgian beers are getting more popular. Same as Corona in the summer when the weather is hot.
But how would I know, I don't even drink alcohol...

Plenty of good beers in Holland. Tried a new one the other day called Bavaria was it? Excelllent beer anyway.
I also like the way they serve it here in those small glasses. Keeps cool and fresh all the way to the bottom

See Richard Branson has just bought 20% stake in Air Asia to assist in developing their long haul cheapo flights, not good news if he succeeds as it will only bring in the package tourist elements that currently go to Majorca, Ibiza and Bognor Regis!!!

No IJ, their brewery is in the southern part of Holland. Close to Eindhoven, I believe. But indeed a funny name for a Dutch beer!

Just got an Emirates flight Manchester > BKK 491 pounds return including all the taxes and bumfluffery charges.
I think the watershed is August 20th for flight prices to drop.

Flights from OZ
They have already mentioned that they were planning to fly in OZ....
From Wikipedia quote..
Air Asia X is planning to fly to Australia from its Kuala Lumpur base covering Avalon, in Victoria, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and Newcastle. The airliner also has plans to fly to India, China, UK and the Middle East

Try Etihad. Just got a flight for £425 return from Manchester incl tax etc. Booked it on expedia and it was cheaper than the airlines own website. October not exactly high season but if anyone is trying to squeeze in multiple trips the saving pays for a lot of entertainment.

Have you tried Air Brunei. 12 hours long haul and dry. Not to be recommended. You can ask all you like but the answer's the same. Can't even take a hip flask with current security regs either.

Not being there I can't say what really happened, however, the accounts in the papers by other passengers supported the 'Aussie prats'. They got arrested because they did not have a permit to drink alcohol on the flight, however, it seems the real reason was that they complained about a few things, like the airconditioning was not working etc.
Anyway, if you can save a few quid, who cares about the basics? ...

You do not need a permit to drink alcohol served on the flight .
Quote:
“It is something we’re really keen to clear up as soon as we can. You do not need a permit to consume alcohol served by the airline. As with all international airlines, passengers are not permitted to drink duty free on board,” an Etihad spokeswoman said.

I'm sure you don't, however, apparently there was a problem with a number of things on the flight (service of food, drinks, refrigeration, airconditioning etc) and a few Aussie prats decided to solve the problem themselves. Some cultures accept these problems as part of everyday life, but it can be difficult for convicts to do it tough. I can offer no excuses.
I won't be flying Etihad, not only due to the above experience by fellow prats. Luckily, in this country airfares have decreased over the last year and if you fly Jetstar from Sydney to Phuket direct they have halved.
I look forward to having a Lao Dark beer in your namesake bar in about 23 days ...

You'll notice that I never mentioned the nationality of those involved , to me that should not matter. The fact that the aircrew felt it necessary to have these guys arrested and charged 'implies' that their behaviour was 'problematic'.
If someone decides to "solve the problem themselves" , against the instructions of the aircrew , they are asking for tr | |
