You might want to take a look at this thread: BM opinions to hotels/guesthouses. The listings (in most cases) include guest friendly comments.

Newbie Here
First post here. I have been to Phuket twice, back in 96 and 98 when i was in the US military.
Anyone knows of any good hotels in Patong, by the beach. Also a hotel that does not charge entrance for visitors?
|
If I may suggest...in the "Accomodation/Transportation" section, there is a (sticky), with much information, on many hotels. If you find a particular hotel there, then you should feel free to ask about any specifics.
Don't mean to get down on you. But this is one of the most frequently asked questions, and the answer's are already out there.
It may be worthwhile, for you to look in the "Newby Section" (sticky's), as well.

Plenty offer free breaky mate but are more the tourist hotels. Try expat for no charge, last time I was there anyway. But no free breaky there.
Nothing wrong with asking a question, atleast its not mindless chatter or off topic. Good stuff.

Once you've found a few hotels that are guest friendly "i.e. no fee", use Google to find their websites and look for yourself.

I thought that was the idea of a forum, to ask others who know and have a chat along the way, perhaps even make a friend? If google is the answer then do we need this forum?

He could see more details about the hotels/guesthouses at the same time on their websites. A forum is a place where people try to help each other out and share experiences etc, but it does not mean that all the answers can be found there. I have given a reply, a good reply and I see no reason why my actions should be questioned by you.
Now - be a good little boy, sit quietly, read the threads and stop trying to wind people up.

Dont be so condescending mate, this is aforum for dialogue, i also attempted to give him some information without being critical. I am not a little boy and your comment is inflamatory and unappreciated. Peace Out.

I think it's like shooting blind, hoping that a BM has recently been to your hotel of choice. And, that he/she will bring you up to speed, on (current) policies, etc.
The "sticky's" here, give you an overall idea of the various hotels and policies. Often a link to the hotel website is provided (with email contact). Look through those, and decide wihich hotel you'd like to try.
Then, the very best way to go...is to select a hotel that you like, and email them, asking about their "guest policy" (joiner fee etc). Many BM's do so, and make a copy of their return email (answer). That's the way to get current info.
Hang in there, and enjoy your trip.

Yeah you can look at an establishments website to find basic info, but they won't post any of the bad points about their hotels. Most don't openly discuss the girl friendly policy (as prostitution is illegal in thailand).
The best way from a punter to find this type of info or re-assurance is via others with firsthand experience of many establishments. LCPL has merely asked for any suggestions, not info on a specific hotel. A harmless question but a legitimate one, if people don't know or don't care, then they are free to not reply at all. nobody is forcing anyone to read any particular post or thread. But sometimes one on one interaction and exchange of ideas is the best way to get an answer and perhaps get to know other users and even be friends.

Well, the BM's on this forum go to a select bunch of hotels and resorts. If someone asks about one of them then usually multiple BM's will post answers. The sticky on the hotels has lots of good information and for a general question that is the best place to look. Werwolf puts in all of the reviews that he can find. Lots of the information is very current.
And to guarantee that a resort is guest friendly you should always ask them anyway and bring their e-mail response with you, just easier that way.
K & N
Poppa Palace
Jintana
Summer Breeze
Salathai
Royal Phawadee
C & N
Expat
how many more do you want, the list is pretty long?

This is what the sticky on the hotels is for. That is why there is a sticky. What would happen if the poster of the info was not on the board for a while and so did not respond to the thread?

All BM's on here are different, and have different opinions I guess. But dialogue is good to. For example I was booked to stay at the Phuket Grand Tropicana this Sept. but luckily found out via another forum that it is under new management (JW Marriot) and under-going major renovations. This info was not on their web-site, as they still want to get customers while disrupted I guess. And my travel agent did not know until I told her and she put a rocket up the wholesaler. But a lucky heads up for me as I was able to change.
So fair question LCPL. Forewarned is forearmed. Either way we are all entitled to ask questions, and free to respond or not.

To end my topic on which hotel is the best to stay, for each member, what hotel is your #1 choice? This will help me and my friend choose the hotel. Just FYI, are leaning towards C and N hotel.

Summer Breeze for me everytime!!!
But what are you after.....this will differ with expectations
obviously no joiner fee.....
price point?
inroom safe?
swimming pool?
easy walk to nightlife?
good + helpful + friendly staff?
room size?
noise?
I give the SB 9/10 on all of the above......and it would be 10 if the pool was onsite rather than 2 minutes walk......but everyone will have different opinions/expectations on the above...

Presumably at that time you made a shortlist .....
Why not post that and then solicit opinions?
