help needed for Koh lanta hotel
Hello all, I want to go to Koh Lanta in November this year and i am looking for a good quality hotel on Khlong Dao Beach about 3 stars, AC, pool, friendly stuff and without joiner fee. Anybody of you have been there and can give me an advice?
Can be away from nightlife but not too far, so can drive motobike around there.
Should be interesting for others too, not so much information about this place available

the nightlife on ko lanta consists of laid back bars on the beach with fire/juggling shows and conversation.if you are looking for bars with girls you will be very disappointed because ther are virtually none at all!
clientele base is mostly scandanavian and other west european families, so if you want nightlife and girlies stay away.
if you want to chill out and relax for a few days quiet beach life then "come on down".
footnote ; i have also just read that by local law jetskis, beach umbrellas and girlie bars are banned on ko lanta, this is not a wind up but the truth!

I was there last December I don't see one umbrella on the beach, they have chair and umbrellas beside the pool at the resorts.
There is almost no nightlife, you can find some beach parties but the restaurants in Saladan start to close about 10 o'clock.

oh, dissapointing informations guys,
But i want to mention this:Last year i go to Ko Chang and people said there is Quiet and nothing about nightlife. But there was, not big, not small, but bars to find and nightlife also, a small dicotheque.
I dont need something like Pattaya or Phuket there, really not. I want it peaceful there. But are there no places except the beach and some restaurants to go in the evening?? forbidden by law?

In Koh Lanta there is plenty of divers, divers like to party. If you look around you will find parties.
When I was there I got posters for beach party etc, but I was at Koh Lanta for relaxing after 2 weeks in Patong so I never tried to find these places.
If you don't find these parties go to a diving shop, they know where the party is.

Stayed 4 years ago at this place (Lanta Palace) thailand1x1.com - Krabi hotels and resorts - Lanta Palace Resort & Beach Club - Pictures and Facilities
At the time had its own private beach, night life is reachable by taxi/motorbike, but at time I was there road was unsealed.
The rumour about no girlie bars seemed correct from what I could see, but I am sure that there must be some up around the port area where the boats come in.
Rooms very good and smack on the front of the beach.
Speed boats could pick up and drop off if you go on tours.
If you want a good chill out place to holiday where you want to relax and get away to a place where there is still some sign of normal Thai living and life, this is a good place. If you want raving nightlife, then this is not the place.
If you want a bit of nightlife it is best to stay up the beach towards the top of the island near Ban Saladin, the farther you go down the bottom of the island the quieter it becomes.
The beach up the top just down from Ban Saladin has all bars and cafes on the beach and is great if you want laid back style of beach night life. There were a coule of Karaoke Bars i saw on my travels but that was about all.
Also a visit to the old Lanta Fishing Village on the other side of the island is a must.
If you are interested in some nightlife info, just found this site, may give you some useful tips on where to hang out

Muslim island.. Not much girlie action..
A few karaokee style places set back from the main rd (fairy lights outside) seemed like places for a rough score but local told me prices were highish for low quality and girls not into being seen out with you / on your bike / etc..
I havent found a hotel I feel is great value yet.. Stayed in a beach villa the the la casarua (or similar) which was a nice room but over priced compared to what you would find here, thats how I tended to feel about most of the resorts but I have only had a couple of short hops over there.

I found "Lanta Island Resort" in my price range and for it will be quiet there i am gonna stay there only for 6 days. Before i am in Phuket for 2 weeks so i can enjoy the nightlife there and have a relaxing time on Lanta.
I cant believe nothing to find there. I will look myself and tell you here.
