I'll be staying in phuket and krabi. whats the best land travel option?
Can I hire a car in phuket and leave it in krabi.
How long would the drive take?
I am loathe to travel by bus.

G'Day champ

I Use Phuket Car Rent just out side the airport over the road from the 7-11, Phuket Car Rent - Cars, Van, Truck Rentals, Travel Services Phuket Thailand good prices. Nice cars. 2.5Hrs to Krabi, one of the nicest drives anywhere in the world actully, throught limestone cliffs.

DON'T USE THE BLUE & ORANGE BUSES!

Last trip we saw the orange and blue busses RACING each other to Krabi, very dangerous, and then saw them up the road later crashed.

SEE THE F-ing photo !

Not sure on car prices, I usually hire a CRV (4x4) off them for about B1300-B1400 a day. You can usually bargin the price with car places for a longer hire, of course.

Crazy_Matt, yes i got it online. There are many rental companies at the airport, but i think i will go for either Avis or Budget for the insurance and peace of mind.

Okay, at least the price I payed is allright. Just asking because 2 weeks ago my wife's nephew organized a "rental" car for me. It got delivered at the Hotel and we went off up-country. 4 days later back in Pat's his friend showed up to pick up his car. We payed 1300 Baht per day. It hit me like a bomb that I actually paid for someone's private car. I was under the impression it was a rental.

I know the Thais all stick together and help each other out as much as possible, providing business to eachother, that's absolutely okay. I just wondered afterwards what would have happened if I had an accident along the way ?

Sometimes my brains not working fast enough, especially not when being in LOS.
