Etihad: Good Or Bad?
etihad, flew with them dublin-abu dhabai-bangkok
from time we landed and swaped planes and took off, wasn't even 2 hours
best flight connections yet
own tv, free drink etc...
good to fly with
and as for flying BUSINESS class on way home, seat goes flat into a 6ft 1inch bed!
some comfort if only i could afford it...
anyone else any opinion on them?

No opinions about Etihad as i never flew with them, but i did have a stopover in Abu dhabi, didnt like it one bit, felt really uncomfortable there, not going back, i rather pay more to have a direct flight or stopover anywhere else.

I think Etihad is an excellent airline and all the planes are new. Also helps that they have some of the lowest fares.
Would love to travel business with them but have never done it.

The flights from dublin are good when it comes to time. Have you seen the first class on the dublin abu dhabi route? even better then the 777 business

Etihad is a great airline in my opinion. Good customer service ! It was very difficult to get 2 tickets a couple of weeks ago and without their great help, I don't think I would have accomplished this.
Qatar couldn't do it, Emirates couldn't but Etihad could. Very nice new airplanes fully entertainment equipt and low price. And of cause a set of stewardesses with 7 different nationalities. All good !
Abu Dhabi Airport is a bit of a weirdo, but at least you can sit down with your coffe and have a ciggy.

I have booked them
A few of my friends have all used the airline and said it was good so I went ahead and booked with them for my trip to Ireland in October.
I also went on their website and joined their frequent flier programme.

I have always banged on about them being an excellent airline since they first started up only 5yrs ago. They will be the best carrier worldwide in the not too distant future IMHO.

I flew to Los Buisness class with them in May and have booked again for December.
Nice and cosy in your own little space with plenty of room to stretch out and sleep after a few drinks.
Food is ok but the service is great.
I found Abu Dhabi airport to be ok.

flew with them from Abu Dhabi to Bangkok, perfect service, only negative I noticed were that the tv was broken for my seat neighbour. Luckily it wasn´t mine
If you stay in dubai, Etihad has their own free busses from dubai to abu dhabi airport. I read that if you go bussiness class, you get a free cab pickup from dubai, and first class gets their own limo for free... would be nice to get a limo to take you to the airport.

Dubai - AD takes already 1,5 hours by car. I'm not so keen to spend more than that on the road before a 6 hour flight.
Got a taxi for 250 AED (68USD), which was worth it, the driver made it in 1 hour and a bit.

I've never flown them, but from what a friend of mine has said about them I would consider using them. I personally perfer a direct flight and just be done with one long journey. I think in the back of my mind that you could have problems with delays further and especially if the flight from the departure airport is ok, this could really be annoying. but if i was short of money then this would be the first airline i would consider

Excellent and now my airline of choice between UK and LOS. Personally I hate the nonstop flights anyway. Two flights of 6 - 7 hours each is just right and you get to stretch your legs in AUH between and you're not there long either. Outbound from UK couple of times for me it's been less than an hour in AUH and usually around 2 hours on westbound trip.
All new aircraft; multinational crews; uptodate entertainment systems and very CHEAP. Will be one of the first to use the new A380.

Yes they do.
Only slight and I mean slight is that the leg roon ia little cosy for someone with long legs. Everything else I would recommend and if I have to go back to the UK will not hesitate to use them again.

If you have a long stop over, there is very little to see or do. I like the place, coming out of arrivals you come to the upper level with seating all around the various gates. There is an escalator opposite Gate 8 (I think) that takes you down to the duty free (very good bargains) and a cofee lounge/snack bar.
There are also various gift outlets upstairs. You can smoke freely upstairs also. Almost impossible to get lost within this airport.
Most people dislike the place because of its small size and lack of things to do. (Arrivals and Departures use the same gate numbers on the first floor BTW)

Just had a look and they use the A330-200 from Manchester, The A330-200 on the afternoon fllight and the A340-500 on the evening flight from Heathrow.
Then the 777-300er from ABD - Bkk

should be no problem then, i only have to wait there about 2 hours (as opposed to 11 hours at Bharein airport on another trip, afwul that was).
Nice that they have a pretty laid back smoking policy as well

They have some gates on the bottom floor also, in fact when we got there the bus from the plane dropped us off inside one of the departure gates We literally walked through the doors and into the queue for the departure security check and had to squeeze past everyone to get out...all very strange. Still, beats "the heathrow experience".
For those interested it could be a good place to pick up duty free cigs as they have prices available in US $ so you can take advantage of the monopoly money exchange rate we've got right now.
