I am trying to find out about buses from Hat Yai to Phuket.

I do know that they run, looking to find out the times that they depart Hat Yai. Tried google with no luck.

Any info on this would be great thanks.

There are many bus companies going to Phuket so practically one or more every hour. Also minibuses go to Phuket but not from the main bus station.

Some taxi drivers take you to a travel agency if you want go to the bus station, don't buy there, go directly to the bus station for the best schedules. and prices.

I wrote the above from my experiences in March when I had to use the bus for the first time since Thai Airways cancelled their flights between Phuket and Hat Yai.

The only drawback was the bus had problems so we had to stop at a gas station and then change to another bus in Trang due to this. Very boring to wait in a bus with problem. I think this route take about 8 hours.

I can also recommend you to buy something for eat since the stops is very short and they almost leave you behind if you are too slow to move into the bus again.

The same company who arranged my minibus trip to Penang (Malaysia) also arrange minibus trips to Phuket.

Due to current situation in South thailand, is it safe to travel by road?

Other than by ordinary bus, my friend told me that the travel agent in Hat Yai can arrange transport (VIP Bus) to Phuket and it is more comfortable. Can someone who has such experience please share with all members who are interested to Know (including me).

I took VIP bus, it is a standard aircon bus. I think maybe a minibus can be more comfortable, they can drive faster and since you are a small group you can ask for a stop or pee pee easier.

Many thanks for your information given. Another question I want to ask is the whole journey will take how many hours and how is the condition of the road ?
