If you check in on-line you will print the boarding pass at home and once you get to the airport there may be a faster que for those already checked in. If you do not already have an assigned seat one of the benefits is that you will be assigned (be able to select) one earlier in the process. The procedures differs from airline to airline.

Yes, just lilke the above gentlemen mentioned. Check in online, select your seat, sometimes you can print your boarding pass already. Then at the airport, bring it all. Usually you can go to the luggage drop-off counters. It saves you a lot of time.

But it does differ from airline to airline. Success.

Cool

This is from BA's website...

After using online check-in, what happens when I get to the airport?
If you are travelling with cabin baggage only and have printed a boarding pass from ba.com, nearly all airports allow you to go straight to security with no need to visit a desk. We’ll tell you what you need to do once you have checked in.

If you are travelling with checked baggage and have printed a boarding pass from ba.com, we have designated Bag Drop desks where an agent will quickly tag your bags and send them to the aircraft.

If you do not possess a boarding pass printed from ba.com, you should use a check in kiosk (where available) or visit a Bag Drop desk at the airport to collect a boarding pass.

All security procedures, including ticket, passport and visa checks, take place as usual at the airport once you have checked in.

...other airlines that offer online check-in will have a similar process.
