There is a forum dedicated to Pattaya on this board. Lots of info there. As for going from Patong to Pattaya. Fly to Bangkok and taxi down.

I know, but only a couple per day at a higher price and by the time you get there you are still 45 minutes outside Pattaya. I have never done that route myself, however, it has been a discussion on this board a number of times and it seems to me that the consensus is generally to use Bangkok airports.

Bangkok Airways :: Asia Air Travel, Airlines, Flights, Samui Thailand if you go from phuket to pattaya you could also stop at kon samui that way as well, then take the minibus which will drop you near your hotel. i have used the direct to pattaya service and found it good even though the plane is a small twin prop.
Or phuket to bangkok remember there are two airports and the old one will cost more and take longer to get to Pattaya.
It depends where you want to stay and how much you want to pay.
What else do you need to know? when are you going?

NOT FOR ME ITS NOT !
would never fly from phuket to bangkok and then onto pattaya by taxi total waste of valuable time and by the time you have added your taxi fare in its not any cheaper
i have flown into UTAPAO 4 times takes me 35 mins by taxi to my pattaya hotel taxi from the new airport to pattaya on the 2 occasions i have done the journey took me 2 hours and 25 mins and then 2nd time 1 hour 45 mins with all the road works taking place on that road at the moment (and for the next 2 years at least ) its a nightmare journey.
bangkok airways is an excellent service and reliable definately recomened by me !

If you use BKK Airways direct into U-Tapoa Airport near Pattaya from Phuket just make sure your plane is not going via Samui or it could well take longer than flying to BKK then heading down via taxi.....otherwise as TM says it is marginally quicker depending on traffic......most of my trips to patts from BKK airport have been done in under 1.5 hours but mostly travel at night after peakhour traffic....
I like to spend the day in Phuket.....and get into Patts around 11.00pm ready to rock + roll
