BM who frequently stay at C&N
I just received an email from C&N Hotel for my booking from Dec 7-14. It's 1,400 bth per night with breakfast. Is including breakfast the new thing now? I rather eat right across from the hotel at that small restaurant. I was there in early September for only 800bth per night.

September low season
December high season
always a big difference in price between the 2 at every resort in Phuket.

I am always shocked when BM's post about hotel prices in Patong.
Frankly, from a UK point of view they are ridiculously cheap considering the service you get and the rooms.
1400 is less than a bad curry in England.
Does anyone else have this view??

Personally, I do not get too up-tight about whether a hotel costs a few hundred bahts more or less, however, to use UK prices to determine whether Thai prices are right or wrong has (IMO) no merit. You can use UK pricing to make you own justifications to go or not. Most everything is cheap compered to UK, even if the everything doubled in price.
If OP was unaware of the big difference between low and peak season I thought the question was fair. He got an answer just to that extend and now should have understood the expected pricing scheme.

With all due respect, I think the responses so far have missed the point of the OP.
He appears to be asking whether "breakfast inclusive" is part of the new pricing arrangements at the C&N.
Sorry, I don't have an answer, but I just thought I would steer the thread back on course.

Oh, I just GOOGLED the hotel's website.
Hotels in Patong, Phuket: C&N Hotel Patong
Which indicates that the price is 1200THB per night in early December. So the price you are being quoted (1400THB per night) seems to have a surcharge built-in for breakfast.
I would just book through their website and specify that you want a 1200THB room, no breakfast, kob khun krap.

Possibly the page is out of date - if you click through to the booking page you get 1400 there.
Back to the OP question it's almost a redundant one - you ain't getting 100 baht off if you don't want the "free" breakfast so the price is what it is.

That is correct, but it also appears that OP thought that the hike from 800 to 1400 may have been because of or justified by a breakfast being included.

Breakfast included is new for the C&N and maybe a justification for the price increase (I paid 1,000 baht for Dec/Jan last high season). I also prefer to eat across Soi C&N at Bao's. I suspect that many C&N guests will continue to do so because the hotel has 100+ rooms and the new dining room would be lucky to seat 20 people!

That was the point I was trying to make about the breakfast. Actually at first, I noticed the rate of 1200 bth per night, but didn't see the 1400 /night. No matter what, C&N has always been good to me so I see no reason to change. I will just eat across the hotel.

Hope you have booked. I tried to book for 19-25 Dec & again for 12-18 Jan. No go, they are full. First time I won't be staying at the C&N!

Are you sure you want your email address be made available to all? A strange one to boot.

Hehe - I substituted my real email address with santa@northpole.com - it's a joke address of no use to spammers.

This will be interesting, because I've got a booking which I made with the C&N before the rate increase was put through.
So the 'old price' is quoted in the email.
I can see a dispute coming up....

Just take a copy of your email booking Marc. But you knew that already 55555
They should honour bookings made before any price rise

This isn't really a complaint, just stating what happened to Me....
I just booked out of the C&N...
I booked in 6 days ago( just a walk in off the street, no advance booking) for a rate of 700bt a night.... Yesterday I was informed that the rate was going up to 1200bt, from today on (1/10)...
I told them I had intended to stay for a few weeks, could they not do a better deal... They said OK 1140bt a night...
I just now booked into another (brand new) Guesthouse on Sansabai for 500bt a night, very similar rooms and facilities to The C&N.
Its called Hotel Sansabai D&W, theres another exactly the same GH called Jennys 2 doors down, same price but Jennys was full (Crusty put me on to them yesterday when I was telling him about the C&N)...

Gday Pad Mc..If I'm not mistaken, we spoke briefly yesterday outside the beauty salon across from C&N...my GF overheard you mention the hotel rate was going up on 1 Oct . Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at the places in Sansabai next time I'm in town.
I checked out this morning and C&N honoured their earlier email quote of 600 baht/night for the 2 weeks up to today..
I also negotiated the same rate for 4 of my friends who are staying there at the moment.. Could have something to do with the vacancy rate at the time. My only complaint was that I couldn't connect to their WiFi..I seemed to be one of the lucky few who had no hot water problems
Patrs...they tried to charge me 200 baht extra per night for breakfast but I declined, choosing instaed to eat across the road.
Anyway, I'm now sitting in an airport lounge at Changi Airport waiting to fly home to Australia....didn't take long for the post LOS blues to find me!
Until next time..

Hey man I remember that!
Really? You got a rate of 600bt from now on (after 1st Oct) for your mates?
Flip they must have had it in for me! I did break an ashtray, lol! Cost me 150bt at checkout... Na, it had nothing to do with that, but when I asked the girl from reservations and explained my case (staying more than 2 weeks), the best she would do was 1140bt...

Yeah, one day I had only boiling hot water comming out of all taps and the Ass washer too!
Those new places on Sansabi don't have web sites yet... Just phone numbers, I'll post them sometime... They're quite good... Brand new rooms, big TV, A/C, Fridge, etc. A little smaller than the basic C&N rooms. But 500bt a night...
Have a good one in CM mate....

C&N Rate Rise
The best rate I could negotiate for November is 1100 Baht per night - supposedly that's the "regular customer" discount rate.
Last year in November I paid 900 Baht.
I know it's only 200 Baht, and I've always enjoyed my stays there - I'm just curious to know if their room improvements are worth the extra.
