Phuket to Hong Kong
I´m coming to Patong January 27 for 4 weeks. I´m planning to go to Hong Kong just for 2 days, and get me some photogear.
Is it possible to fly from Phuket to Hong Kong ? And in that case, how much for a ticket ? Please, hope you can help me !
Sorry fo my bad English :-)

yes it is. I did it about 2 years ago on a long weekend. Left Phuket on Thursday came back on Sunday. You leave Phuket in the morning in Hong Kong early afternoon. If I remember correctly it was on Thai.

Thai Air only fly direct on Weds, Fri and Sunday, at the moment, but it is low season. Also there is Orient Thai and DragonAir.
The Airfare should be around 15-20K baht.
Take into account that January is also high season in Hong Kong and you will find hotels quite dear. If you are paying all this travel money to come to Hong Kong just to buy cheap camera gear, will you really save that much?

My brother just bought some serious camera gear (80D ?? And some massive white surf photog lenses) he was comparison shopping with NY and HK but then found it was cheaper to buy in Singapore..
He saved a bundle over Euro / GB prices.. He was gonna go for D1 etc pro stuff but bottled it in the end to pro-sumer.. I am itching to get my mitts on it in a few weeks down on Bali..
He was contacting asian ebay sellers and offering to collect that really found the ultra tight deals.. I can ask him who he found in the end if you like..

Thank you for the answer !
You have right about the travelmoney, 20k and 3k for a room, thats to much !
The cameragear is about 2500 usd in USA and same in Hong Kong. In Sweden about 4000 usd. If I order from USA to my home in Sweden it will cost me about 3300 usd. Maybee that is the best I can do.

Singapore is closer than HK. Lots of budget hotels.
Singapore prices are really good if you know where to hunt.
For a start, try Sim Lim Square, then move on to others like Lucky Plaza at Orchard Road.

Where would you recommend staying in Singapore to be central for shops entertainment etc?
There are also very competitively priced flight/hotel packages to S'pore from Phuket. I recently saw some advertised at I think it was around 8K baht, but needs 2 people otherwise supplements.

Depends on your budget.
Uniquely Singapore - Accommodation Search
Do a search there, anywhere near a MRT station would be good, but the MRT doesnt operate after midnight.
I normally stay at the Marina area. Swissotel Merchant Court is my favourtie.
Maybe you can try areas like Little India or Chinatown if you're on a budget.

Cheap flights are jetstar and tiger..
But check out silk as they often have 3 day 2 night packages with flights that are cost effective and silk is better to fly with..

I am following this thread, as I am also looking for the SB-800 for my new D80. Wanted to know the price in Thailand (as they are made in Thailand) and asked allready a friend who goes to HK end this month.
