What do you guys do on long flights?
Ok, I've got two days to kill before coming to LOS. I'm already wondering what to do on what is going to be my longest flight so far. What do you do?

read, read, sleep, then read some more. Buy a Thai language book and try to have 50 words/phrases memorized by the time you land. Start using them when you land at the airport.

Drink, eat, watch film then sleep, and sleep some more, you need the practise cos you will sure lose out in the sleeping stakes here!!!

I go crazy and tell myself "I am never going to do this again". Then I get to LOS and say "I can't wait to return!"
I am not one that has been able to sleep on flights so I am always looking for new diversions for future long flights.
My usual flights go...eat, drink, watch movie, go to toilet, watch movie drink, go to toilet, watch movie, go to toilet just to get up and walk around and do something beside sit and watch movie.
Some people take ambien then wake up just before landing.

I hate the people who are able to fall asleep even before the plane takes off...
For me it takes 3 flights and about 24 hrs to get to LOS.
Movies, walking around the plane and frequent toilet visits are the order of the day. If I am lucky I may doze off for an hour or two.
But getting there makes it all worthwhile.

can't sleep on a plane so i just try to go into a trance in between movies or i'll bore my immediate passengers if they'll talk to me. On the way back i sleep a wee bit as i'm knackered from my holiday!

One more tip ... I really can advise anyone to get yourself a "noise reduction" or "noise filtering" headset.
It's truely amazing if you take it off after 2-3 hours and realize how loud it actually is inside the airplane.
It's also greater experience to watch those movies with perfect audio pleasure, not relying on those crappy headsets provided.
Top notch are the Bose head-sets if you can afford them. They are around 450 $.
I got myself a pair of Panasonics for 122$ and they are already great.
It really makes a big difference, especially on long flights. Maybe one of the better investments I made recently.

Start off with a drink if I'm lucky grab another when the stewardess passes back with the trolley.
Listen to some music, Have a couple of bottles of wine with the meal, then relax with a Baileys or similar and if there is a decent film watch that or back to the music.
Maybe do a crossword or Suduko to pass a bit of time.
Sleep if i'm lucky.

I just try to read a book, go through all the in-flight mags, eat everything put in front of me and be generally bored stiff for 12hrs. No way can I sleep, and I have been known to look at the in-flight map for hours on end listening to MP3 music. Thats the main reason I split my flight into 2x6hr sectors to relieve the boredom of sitting on the same plane.

Great map. That map is quite interesting on long flights.
Half way through a 14 hour flight I was on to Shanghai earlier this year the map stopped working in my group of seats. I was so pissed! I wanted some of my ticket refunded, but sure they would laugh at me.

I harass the stewardesses for drinks on the way down to LOS, and watch that great movie about an airplane flying from Copenhagen or Stockholm to Thailand. It never gets boring...
On the return flight it's usually no problem to sleep through most of the trip.

usually drop a pill, eat a meal + sleep if possible......but my favourite part of the journey is once we are actually flying over LOS.....all the memories come flooding back...mental pictures start to flood in.....the nostrils flare with LOS's heady mix and I start to anticipate hitting the sois....
I like this part of the trip.....the rest you can keep!!

Last time on the flight out to los Thai girl sat next to me. Of course she was late and then proceeded to stuff her face and then fell asleep all before the plane took off. Typical. I don't sleep too well myself.
