Airline options for Australians (Melbourne)?

Had a bit of a scan but it seems my options are limited to two airlines.

Is Thai Airlines or Jetstar the only options for airfares between Melbourne and Bangkok.

It seems Thai Airlines prefer to deal via agents as they quote travelers 24,010baht (AUD$858.00) for a one way flight from Bangkok to Melbourne on their website.

Jetstar's offering for a similar date is 11,183baht.

I flew with Thai a couple of years ago and loved the service but can't afford their current advertised rates.

I need a one way from Bangkok to Melbourne.

Are there any other airline options or good discount agents anyone can recommend?

Jetstars flight date isn't ideal for me.

Thursday at 9.00pm. I was hoping for atleast the following Saturday.

Maybe an agent somewhere has access to reduced rates via Thai Airline so I can stay in LOS another two days.

Jetstar is outstanding though.

They sold me a one way Melb - Bkk for AUD$299.00 last Friday.

I just wish an airline would fly MEL-HKT direct, as what happens in sydney. I arrived home this morning leaving my hotel at 1.30 yesterday. 3.40 flight to BKK to meet Jetstar departing 9.00pm.
I lost an entire afternoon including the sunset at the Beach....... Grrrrrrrrr
and going Via Sydney or KL is no better.

Try zuji.com.au.
My mate and I have used them in the past for Melb-Bangkok and have got tickets under $950 each time......including taxes.
Also take into account that depending on when you check the Thai Airways site, the closer to the date of departure, the lower the airfare.

Thanks Shez.

Using this technique can be a little scary.

You might find yourself running out of options at the 11th hour.

I think Flight Centre are given blocks of discounted airfares from Thai Airlines which they use to combine with their hotel packages. Trouble is they stitch you up with expensive hotel charges.

If they can sell you air travel alone, it might be a way of flying with Thai more cheaply than booking directly with them.

May be worth looking at Qantas via S'pore then up on budget airline. Found a good price Sing/Perth return the other day, they may have other good deals on the go.
