Ticket for your GF
Just a question for those BM's who have brought their Wife/GF to their home country.
Did you buy her ticket in LOS or in your home country? Guess you have to make a reservation first and show that at the embassy.
My plan is to get her visa arranged next year and then fly back to Holland asap, once she has the visa in her passport.
Looking forward to some advise. Thanks.

I'd buy it in LOS, slightly cheaper, not much but a little, I'm making the assumption she is coming back after her stay or for a holiday to visit family then it gets the issue and into her possession easier.

Hey Buddy, can't exactly help you since I booked a one-way-ticket from Bkk to Heathrow online with ThaiAirways at the time. Luckily we could extend and use it a couple of month later after the first application was turned down
But I seem to remember while reading up on all that stuff it was not appriciated by the embassy to see a ticket bought before the Visa was handed out.
Some would think it has a beneficial effect, others see it as too overly eager ... put it that way, the embassy does not care if the ticket has already been bought in case they don't issue the visa, it's not required, more the other way around.
I could be wrong, ...hope someone will provide you with some decent tips :-)

I bought a ticket for my TG online after the visa as granted. If I remember correctly, the visa application form asked when she intended to fly, as they need to put a start date on the visa, but they didn't ask for proof of purchase. I just put on the application that a ticket would be bought once the visa was granted.
It's a bit of a confusing situation, but bear in mind that a lot of these forms are trying to cover all possibilities, i.e. people working as well as tourists etc. Sometimes the questions seem a bit silly but just treat them as being for other circumstances.
The embassy knows that she cannot fly without a ticket and it would be silly in this day and age of "restricted" (and therefore much cheaper) tickets to buy them before the visa is granted.
I flew over to pick her up (using my FF points), but had already bought her ticket when I was in England.

Buy your ticket after you have got the Visa, compare pricing online, through travel agents in LOS and at home. It's also best to buy a ticket that has an open return date to be used within 6 months etc.

Bought the ticket after she got the Visa.
Shopped around with agents, here, there and online - not much difference in prices except that flying to Oz is always cheaper than flying out of it.
If she is travelling alone - regardless of price - put her on Thai and try to fly her direct - IMHO it is worth it unless she has travelled abroad alot previously.
Good luck with the Visa. Enjoy.

I agree with the Thai airways direct flight thingy if she is travelling alone. If she's travelling with you this wouldn't be an issue

Bought ticket after visa was approved,
I only checked flights with my agent I use to go to thai and there price for her ticket was like double that of the one we booked in thai. They said that they did not have the specials flying from thai to oz?,so they say....
Thai airways was obviousally my choise for her to fly, allthough there ticket only had a 2 month return date so we whent with Qauntas as she could fly back in 3 mths with them and she has to transit through sydney, poor girl..im preping her for the ordeal ahead and letting her know what to expect and how it works.
Maybe i could have purchased a 1 way thai ticket, but was a little worried about imigration quetioning her to were the return ticket is that i stated i was to purchase for her.

Unless your girl is real switched on H l reckon she will have a nightmare getting to the Domestic Terminal.....l flew up to meet my Ex.....she would have been clueless and would have got lost 4 certain.
Re return ticket....doubt whether they would have let her in without a return ticket.

Thanks for your points of view, guys. Plans have changed a bit. She may already come over late January or February, despite the cold and windy weather in Holland then.
I just remembered that Bigboy told me some time ago that there is a Dutch travel agency called 333-Travel and the also have an office in the Eastin hotel in Bangkok. They told me they can arrange ticket for a situation like this.
Hence, my plan is to fly down there and help her to complete all the paperwork. Then she can go to the embassy (I don't think I will be allowed to join her there). Then when the visa will be granted, we will confirm the ticket and fly out to Holland asap. Sure I will buy a ticket for her, where the return date can be changed.
Anyway, there are non-stop flights from BKK to AMS 2 times per day with KLM or China Airlines and 4 days a week Eva fllies as well.
Let's hope it will all work out. Of course I will keep you posted.
