Jan is high season, you will not have a lot of choice then.
I think you will have to be happy with whatever you can find.
Oh...and welcome to the board.

Along with "What is the weather like in xxx month?" and "How much is ST/LT?", this is probably in the top-three most asked questions on this forum.
All I can suggest is that you scroll through maybe the most recent 3 pages of this section of the forum, and look for similarly-titled threads.
And also this sticky: http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...esthouses.html
Some more brusque BMs would say "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!"

No 1 choice, Summer Breeze, then if they are fully booked start trying other hotels in Soi Sansabai, its located brilliant for Bangla, one stumble and your there, fancy the beach instead, no problems stumble over once more, wow sand and semi naked girls, whoops stumbled wrong way and ended up in Seduction in error, not so bad!!! (could have been c&d's)
Also look up The Orchid, Lucky Leks, Andaman Suites, Jenny's, try not to but if all else fails and everything else is booked then reluctantly look at The Yorkshire.
(sorry yorkshire fans I don't like the place much)(probably got something to do with the fact Dennis comes from Yorkshire and Denver is just over the penines, so close)(actually Denver's all over anything at the moment he's on holiday countdown time - not too long now dman!!)

if not full, try Summer Breeze!
it would be probably a great idea if someone (maybe one of the residents ) could make a list of all hotels/guest houses located on sansabai...
i just know only 3 or 4 there (SB, Lek Murphy's, Didi's, Swiss Inn?) and already spent hours in querying google
aren't there some new guest houses on the end of the soi??

There are new ones at end of Sansabai, also a lot of them between Jungceylon and Nanai road, eg. Ferb Guesthouse. Many of them dont have web presence I guess.
That is, if Summer Breeze is full.

Safari Beach Hotel is less than a minute's walk from Bangala on the Beach road. Integrated with Savoey Seafood restaurant... Nice hotel, variety of room types with some on the beach side of the road. Summer Breeze and Safari Beach hotels are my favorites. I have stayed at both many times and I think you would have a nice stay at either.
I agree with previous replies. Look at the info gathered in the link kindly provided by Bello Uomo, compile a list of your preferences, and start trying to book while one of them may still be available...

Heh Nacha you add your list to mind two posts up and you've got what you are asking for, or do you want us to do the google search and put all the websites, phone numbers on here as well. Or maybe someone should think of a hotal guide as a sticky.......................oh what they have already??? wow wonders of modern science.
Stop it Dodge you are in cynical mode again!!!!

as i had written i just meant it would be a nice idea...
and usually the name of a hotel is enough to find a phone number or website, only hard if you don't know the name of the hotel

On the recommendation of Caerphilly I stayed at Poppa Palace and this was an excellent choice..... For some strange reason I then moved down to Tropica Bungalows (now apparently non -GF).... Which was no where near the quality of Poppa Palace.

Summer breeze has been booked out since July and i would say most of the others are chockas too......I know Poppas is cause I tried it
Ferb may have something as it is a little further out and is less known
i'd be interested to know if the Irishfella can find something.....anything....for this time now

Thats the big problem. Even if they say there is a room for you, you turn up and its not always the case. A nightmare in Jan I would think.
I think the OP will be very lucky to get much now. Maybe a case of going though the hotel websites and booking whatever is available.

I just booked a room at Safari Beach for the middle of December, which will be my first stay there. I have a previous post on Patong Bay Garden Resort which half a block down from Safari and sits right on the beach. I thought it was a great place but the prices are up there for high season, otherwise I would have booked there again. Safari looks pretty nice though so hopefully I will like it as much.

Patong Bay Garden is GF, and while I didn't check directly with Safari, going off the reader comments on the sticky, Safari is GF...I sure hope it still is!

You will be able to find a hotel. It just might not be as close as you would like to Bangla but it will probably still be within walking distance. Places that advertise on the internet might be booked but plenty of smaller places will have a room. That might require a taxi ride around running into a few places to see if any vacancy. Not the way I'd do it but you will find something. I'm yet to ever hear that Patong has sold out of all it's hotel rooms. In other words...if you really want to go to Patong, don't let not having a room booked stop you. You'll just have to do some digging to find a place.

hmmmm.....I wouldn't take that as a given without an email from PBG backing that up.....I have stayed there a couple of times and not been charged JF as has another BM in here....but I have seen them try it on other guys in reception late at night....it's a bit embarrassing and at 1kbht it will drill a hole in your pocket quickly if you haven't budgetted for it

The front desk checked to make sure I booked a double and it was no problem. That was in September, however, I agree nelsonone, best way to make sure is with an email...speaking of that, since I haven't done that with Safari, anybody have a current update, the last thread on the sticky is from the begining of 2006.

Email is info@safaribeachhotel.com and the gentleman that I dealt with in August was Wisuth Hemmakoth.
Stayed there for one night last week in room 120. Nice experience. Ground floor, Thai Contemporary, one large bed, recently refurbished, small patio looking out to the gardens and pool area. WiFi is now available in the restaurant side rooms where before it was only available in the beach side rooms.
BMs - Please post comments about your hotel stays if you get the chance upon your return. The conditions, policies, staff all change in the hotels over time and it is nice to see some fresh comments from different perspectives, from guests that have stayed in a different type of room (or a particular room) etc to keep the hotel sticky relevant. It does seem to be true that some of the most often asked questions regard hotels, and archived information about them can get dated without fresh reviews. Hotel experience can be a big part of the overall Phuket experience, and definately a large part of the expense. Nice to help each other out...
