Lawan Residence-december

Hi, this hotel is on the soi with the dive shop just next to jungceylon, i was wondering if anyone had driven past recently.....is there any construction going on around it? When I stayed at Baipho last year, the drilling nearly did my head in, starting at 9am sharp...insane. Just want to avoid any such incident this year.

Cheers

Bump

Hi guys, I am getting just a little anxious about Lawan as the receptionist was a little cagey when I asked her about the construction, does anyone know?

And are there any alternatives, I need a place from 13-24 Dec. Tried summer breeze but they r full.

Cheers

Can't help you with the construction issue, but have you looked at this thread re other hotels and guesthouses?

http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/ac...esthouses.html

I can only suggest picking out the ones you like the look of and googling the website for further info. You are looking for a room in the busiest part of the season, so most of the best places are already taken.
Don't know your budget, but a couple of recommended ones spring to mind

Poppa Palace and Royal Phawadee. Its a longshot but maybe you can get fixed up at either of these

I am familair with this guesthouse. The owner, Gary, is a friend of mine. He took over this place during low season and did a very nice job. The place is clean and comfortable and well maintained. I spoke with Gary and there is no construction in the immediate area, so it should be quiet......altogether a nice place to stay.

Have a look at his post

Dude, much as I like the girl who runs the place, I have to say it wasnt my cup of tea. Gotta climb a lot of stairs if your unlucky enough to cop a 4th floor room, fluorescent white tube light in room (kinda unromantic). 2000b fine for smoking (cigs) in room.

I found Sino House Patong, one soi away, to be exceptional value for the money. Its brand new too.

I always request a room on a lower floor no matter where I say, I hate to start puffing hard before I get into the room with a guest. Gary and the Lawan have always delivered what had been promised or requested unlike some of the places highlighted in this forum for not doing so in regards to bookings suddenly no being fulfilled. As others suggest read the Accomadation thread for good suggestions.

As to the smoking issue the only smoke I want to smell in my room is burning rubber.

Regards

GHLamb

If you are on the 4th floor it's only 3 sets of stairs!! The flourescent tube light is over the vanity so if you need ambiance then there is a light in the balcony or two separate lights on each side of the bed or leave the bathroom light on or the TV perhaps???? The 2000b fine for smoking has never been enforced but is simply a deterrent meant to lead smokers to the balcony where there is fresh air. And yes The Lawan Residence always accommadates special requests for our guest or we simply don't rent the room. Oh yea, I own the hotel!!

I stay at the Lawan and am very happy with the place.

Gary is a nice guy to chat with and Joy is a great hostess.

All rooms have Wi-Fi and you can still have a lower floor, no problem.
