Travel site.
Read an article in Time magazine on the plane back home about some kind of "Google" site for travel. You can't book there but they check out the prices and propose where you book best. Seems their income is (5%) from the link they propose and you book from. Looks interesting.
Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com
Does anybody knows it or used it?

Oh when I opened the link I see it's "Kayak". Used them for years...great site for comparing pricing from many various sources. However, really is a U.S. based departure model pricing. Outside the country, it's not great.

I use them all the time, including travel in Europe and Asia. While there is no site that always will give you the best price, this one have saved me a lot of money over the years. This includes dynamite deals on Air France between Vietnam and Thailand as well as the inclusion of low cost carriers (i.e. EasyJet) in Europe.

you can set an alert for a maximum price. Then you get an email, when the price for the wanted flight is below your set limit.

I Wish I Could Understand
1. I am told that BKK is about the cheapest place to fly from worldwide.
2. and I cannot find a truelly Thai/Asian search engine, they are all placed elsewhere.
3. I checked eg. Kayak and others , and their prices where much higher than what I got from the local travel agent. I took Qatar Air, Brunei and Etihad business to Europe.
So where can reliable info be gotten from?

Amazing
I tried your link, Hall. Cheapest business class ticket on Lufthansa or Etihad was about 137.000 THB.
Using the direct website of http://www.etihadairways.com
The flight was 110.000 THB !!
Didnt check with travel agent. Two month ago I flew for 71.000 !!!
But that is my question/ problem = Where to find trust worthy information ??

I've used Kayak.com for a while.
You enter your travel details and the engine gives you an overview of airfaires available with different carriers.
You cannot book directly but it gives you links to the airline's website where you can proceed with your reservation.
It's an intersting tool for screening purposes but always check carrier's websites by yourself as sometimes it can miss some great deals.

Yep. I only use them as reference sites then negoitate directly with whatever airline I 'm dealing with. I always get a better deal direct from airlines and it is always more convenient. Generally airlines have a 24/7 service. Try getting a western based travel agent on the phone on a Sunday when things go wrong !!

You aren't doing anything wrong. By using both a search engine & the airlines own websites gives you the choice. Its up to you to find which is cheaper or suits you best. It looks like Kayak isn't the best search engine if it misses a cheaper Silkair flight.
I had a quick look, and if you could move your flight back one day, Tiger Airlines can take you for only 1340baht. An even bigger saving than you found.

I don't think there is any one site that could be named the best. These sites make money on either booking, referrals or advertising ... or a combination there of. That means they will favor the airlines that puts money in their pocket.
I have found that Kayak finds the best price most of the time. Depending on the sensitivity of the fare basis I may check a couple of other sites.
Most of the sites that check a basket of airline, do not check the LCC's.
To find those in a part of the world that you are not familiar with can be tough.
If price is of great importance always search more than one site, even call an agent as they know better than any how to search and even though they may charge a few bucks for the service it may be worthwhile.

I subscribe to as many travel sites possible, then I cull them as they become not relative to where I wish to travel. If you or anyone are her in OZ, bestfightsdotcomdotau sold me a one way MA flight from KL to MEL for $348 inc taxes back in April. I also got a MEL(via Syd)-BKK-PEK return with Thai for AU$1495 inc taxes. I then took the printout of the deal to a local travel agent to see what he could do, he matched it and got me the BKK-MEL leg changed to direct.
Shop around. It pays.
Now all we need is a direct flight to HKT from MEL. The BKK or Sydney leg's sh1t me.

A great site to see different airports and whats going on is
Live Air Traffic Control | Live Airport Webcams | Live ATC
Live Air Traffic Control & Live Airport Webcams brings you live audio and video feeds from airports located all over the world. But before you're cleared for takeoff, you'll need RealPlayer (free download). Rather then use Real Player I D/L Real Player alternative does the same and uses less resources

Neither Zuji or ebookers will mention Tiger as they are LCC. They only deal with mainstream airlines in general. Once you know of the low cost carriers (LCCs) then you can go direct to their websites for sometimes much better deals.
Google for "Cheap airlines" and your departure and arrival points and you should get a list of LCCs
