Are they still working on the Bangkok - Pattaya highway?

When I last traveled to Patts last April the main highway between Bangkok and Pattaya was a bit of a mess.

Road construction everywhere and lots of traffic hold ups.

Does anyone know if they've finished upgrading it yet.?

Was there a few weeks ago but I don't have anything to compare it to as I have no previous trips, but seemed ok. Then again at other times of the day might be crap. I went Bangkok - Pattaya mid afternoon. Same on the return trip

Hi

I was on the highway last week. They are still working on it but I was not delayed either way between Patts and BKK. Who cares anyway, a sleep in the taxi helps

I heard that it will be another 2 years before construction is completed. I have been on the road several times this year and have not had any major delays, however, sections from Pattaya to Bangkok is currently quite rough.

I heard they used the same contractor that built the runways of the new airport. Estimated time of completion is sometime next decade.
